    The Indian Removal Act was signed by Andrew Jackson. This helped moving the Indians Constitutional. This helped Indians move from their territory for the White people.

    The English Painter George Winter traveled to Indiana to get a glimps of the Potawatomi Tribe. This was the same time as the plans for the moving. He Winter painted the daily lives of the Potawatomi. He wrote in his journel that they should not move form their land.

    Father Petit was born in France, and traveled to the US. He went to Indiana and met the Potawatomi. He grew close to the tribe. When he found out that they have to move, he traveled with them.

    This was the deadline for evacuating their land. Some Indians have left already, but most haven't. When they were evacutating, the Americans set fire to their homes so they have no choice but to leave.

    The Potawatomi Tribe crossed the Mississippi River. They transported on Steam Ferryboats. It took the Indians a month to cross the Mississippi River.

    They have finaly reached their destination. Their destination was in Osawatomi, Kansas. They have traveled 660 miles.
  • Chief Menominee Dies

    Chief Menominee Dies
    Three years later, after arriving at Kansas, the Potawatomi Chief died. He was buried at the place where they were located.
  • Father Petit is Dead

    Father Petit is Dead
    He had Typhoid Fever. He died while he was traveling back to Indiana from Kansas. He was buried in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1856, his body was moved to Indiana.
