Events Leading up to the Accidental Death of Judge Dixon

ANNA MARTIN - Sept Hunting Trip 1
On a hunting trip with Judge Dixon in early September, she witnessed that the gun was faulty during the hunt. She herself took the gun, aimed at a target, and attempted to fire it. The gun would not discharge at the time. -
OFFICER WEB - Sept Hunting Trip 2
Judge Dixon went on a second September hunting trip, this one with Officer Web. On this very day, that naughty shotgun had "discharged accidently" once more. -
OFFICER WEB - Hunting Trip 3 - Two Weeks Later
As they were walking down a trail, carrying the guns by their sides, the naughty shotgun mysteriously discharged once again without notice, right in front of both of them. When examined, the safety was on. -
DAY OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH
Between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 9:30a.m., Judge Dixon was at home, in his work office, working on repairing the defects of his shotgun. While he was repairing the gun, it accidently discharged, sending a round of ammunition into his head. As a result of the shotgun wound to Judge Dixon’s head, his “left eye and part of his left forehead were torn off.” Judge Dixon was instantly killed. -
CORONER'S INQUEST
You will hear Coroner Edward explain his process of sifting through the evidence to come to a professional determination that Judge Dixon's death was purely an accident. -
Asked to tip the scales of justice
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. Today you will be asked to determine whether Judge John J. Dixon accidentally killed himself or whether he has intentionally done so. I will present to you today that this unequivocally was an accident. -

Coroner Web has done his job for many years. Although he was a personal friend of Judge Dixon you will learn that he is an upstanding citizen and would not fabricate the facts of any situation for any person. He will give you his professional opion that the shotgun death of Judge Dixon was purely an accident. -

You will hear testimony from Officer Web. He is a highly decorated officer and honest person. He will explain that he and Judge Dixon were friends for many years and went hunting together occasionally. Officer Web will share that he witnessed Judge Dixon's faulty shotgun unexpectedly discharging on more than one occasion. -

You will hear testimoney from Judge Dixon's sister-in-law. She also went hunting with the judge and will share how faulty the gun was. -
Faulty Gun
You will hear testimony which will prove that the shotgun Judge Dixon was repairing, on the day of his accidental death, was actually faulty and would unexpectedly discharge. -
The Defendant Providential Insurance Company
The defendant will attempt to introduce evidence to fabricate a theory that the Judge is some type of criminal. Mary Dixon asks you today, to keep in mind that Judge Dixon has never been charged with any wrong doing, nor has he been convicted of any such action, ever. -
JUDGE JOHN J. DIXON
Judge Dixon was a very loving husband. He also loved his job as well as his community. He helped out all of his personal friends in any way he could. He was a happy man. And we will prove all of this today.
