The jet
A jet flew over the "Community". A jet isn't supossed to be flyIng that close to the "Comuunity", according to their strict rules. Jonas watched the jet as it flew so close to him, he tryed to savour the moment, because that never happens. But at the same time, he wondered why it was so close, the person piloting that plane would most likely get "Released". -
The Apple
Jonas was in the recreation room with his friend Asher, they took out an apple and started to toss it around for their own amusment. But for a split second, Jonas saw the apple change, he couldn't wrap his head around on how it changed, but it just did. -
Jonas has the stirrings
One night Jonas was lying in bed, and he had a dream about Fiona. Fiona is a girl in the same "group" with Jonas, Jonas has a crush on her, and every kid his age has the "stirrings", which in our world means having a crush, but the "pills" that he has to take, prevent him from having effection for others. Love is forbbinen. -
The Cermony of twelve
Jonas has been awaiting this day, to find out what job he has been given. Jonas' anxiety was building every time someone before him got there assignment, as it got closer and closer to him, he was about to scream with excitment! Then fianally, it was his turn, he got out of his seat awaiting his number and his job to be anounced, but they skipped his number, they went from 18-20, how could they do that? Jonas was devistated, but then, number after number, he was fianally called to the stage. -
When Jonas meets the Giver
It's Jonas' first traning day. He is nervous and yet, excited, that he was chosen to be "The Reciver of memoies". He is being trained by The Giver to become the official *Reciever of memories". -
Learning about The Giver
It's Jonas' first day at "Work". He fianally gets to learn about what The Giver's job is really about. On the first day, he learns about what the Giver does and why and how he is important in the "Community". For example, when the jet flew over, the Giver gave the "Community" advice, and helped them calm down. -
Jonas gets his first memory
Jonas starts his first joyous memory, a memory of; sledding. He claimed that it was nothing that he had ever expeirenced, sliding down a hill on a blanket of snow, on a red sled. The excitment, the joy, the freedom that he felt, the cold air. He couldn't be happier, but yet, he was confused and overwhellmed. -
When Jonas can see red
Jonas was expieriancing something he had never seen before, the colour red! Jonas was going back to the giver and spotts Fiona, but something is different... her hair was red! Atleast for a few seconds. Jonas had remembered this "red" with the apple. -
Jonas recives the "War" memory
Jonas wasen't prepared for what he was about to experience, war. This memory tore him up inside, he saw children, the same age as him, dying, wounded. He couldn't do anything to help, this was only just a memory, but now Jonas now knows what it is like to be in War, and he now wishes he doesn't. -
Jonas learns what release means
Jonas has always knew the term "Release", but he didn't quite know how or what it actually did. He was curious, so he asked the Giver, the Giver said that he would rather show him than explain it, so he show Jonas the tape of his father releasing a twin. What he saw was unbelieveable, he was so humilated to be his son, how could his father do this to such an inonocent child! Bascilly, all they do is, put a needle into you, which then kills you. And Jonas' father killed it like it was nothing! -
Jonas plots with the Giver
After seeing that horrible recording of his father killing a child, Jonas stays overnight with the Giver. Jonas feels that he has to get out of the "Community". So they make a plan to get Jonas out of the "Community". They plan for Jonas to go on a long, long bike ride to freedom. -
The plan in action
Jonas and the Giver have fianally settled on a plan with the Giver, to flee the "Community". He will leave his dweling, when the ceromony of 9 is starting, his parents and sister will be there, so it will be the perfect time to escape. But first, he had to save Gabe from release. So, he went to his unit, and grabbed Gabe. He brought himself and Gabe to his father's bike, simply because it has a baby seat. He strapped Gabe in, hopped on the bike, and rode away.
