African Union Extends Command in Dafur
The African Union extends its command of pecekeepers in Darfur for another six months. Hundreds are supposed to have died in the heaviest fighting between the nothern rebels and southern sudanese since they signed a peace deal last year. Russia is ready to provide helicopters to UN Peace Keepers. Tension rises between Arab militia and SPLM in Abyei. Both presidents of Sudan and Chad agree to stop the hostility between them for five years. Counting for the national census begins and is considered a step towards democratic elections. Chief Humanitarian John Holmes says 300 thousand have due to the five year Darfur conflict. Southern Defense Minister Dominic Dim Deng is killed in a plane crash in the south. -

May to September 2008
Tension rises over Sudan and Chad over raid and suspicion of involvement and break ties. Oil dispute breaks out in nothern and southern Abyei. Leaders take action to try and settle oil dispute. The International Criminals Court TOP prosecuter demands for the arrest of President of Bashir for national Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, and war crimes. It is the first such request and is rejected immediatley. Darfur accuses the government of bombing two towns. -

October 2008 to January 2010
A ceasefire by Bashiir is rejected. Al turabi announces that Bashiir should turn himself in for war crimes. 250 people are killed in Sudan for battles over land. Khartoum says it is not arming ethnic groups. Leader Salva Kiir says it is ready for war and Lam Akol splits from SPLM to form SPLM- Democratic Change. Oil dispute is settled by court and most ends up in North. Women wanting to change the law is punished for wearing trousers. Darfur war is over. North and South agree on independence. -
Period: to
February 2010 to February 2012
President refuses to declare Darfur war over and is re elected for second term. Second arrest warrant for genocide is issued but not reinforced. South votes in favor of independence and North overrides Abyei and is considered act of war and independence. On July 2011 South Sudan gains Independence. Commitees are set up to resolve dispute. Arrest warrant for Mohamed Hussein is issued and also President Bashir. South sudan halts oil production and talks peace with the north.
