Turko-Egyptian Rule in Sudan
This rule is when Egypt and Turkey came in to rule Sudan at that time. The Turko-Egyptian rule made loads of new agricultural, economy, and a new religion; Islam. The new religion, Islam, is a part of the cause of the war, due to the different religions in the country which separate in “holy war”. The Turko-Egyptian rule also brought new system of new agriculture with bigger farms and animals, better economy, and a better life there. -

British Colonization of Sudan
It separated the country into 2 different provinces, making them eventually “not the same country”. This separation made both sides look upon each other and cause major conflicts like civil wars. -
British Southern Policy
The british separated Sudan into 2 totally different parts. Making one feel unfair and making the other superior. In the past, imperialism was popular, so they decided to conquer as much islands or countries as possible (Sudan). When British arrived Sudan, they started modifying it with the “closed door” policy. Sudan's Independence from Britain
This made Sudan run on itself and on its own generals/officials which are basically corrupted. Anya Nya is created
The main rebel group was created and made more violence. This main rebel group controlled most of the fighting in the front lines of the battles. The Southern Sudan people were scared that the North would dominate the whole country because of the different nationalities. The separation between nationalities was caused by British’s rule and putting up its “closed doors” policy, making South and North. However, there were still other minor but having value things. -
Nimeiri Becomes President in Sudan
He mostly corrupted the government, instead of a democracy it became a tyrannical rule. By turning the whole government upside down, it made Sudan and its citizens mad. His reign brought mostly unhappy things, but also brought SOME good things. My Pic. Oil First Discovered in Sudan
The north stole the oil that the south found, that made the south angry and start a series of rebels against the north. The South found the oil first, but the North just came in and took that oil away and sold it to other countries. When the money returned, North kept all of the money, none was left for South. Sudan 2nd Civil War
The north did a lot of unfair things to the south. Such as: The economy, unfair money being sent, unequalized resources, and unequalized development of the south. The South and North also wanted bigger territory. So each sided fought for their needs and wants. -
SPLM/A is Created
It was a group in South Sudan to support the rebels fighting against the central government. This group made rebels even more stronger, causing the war to be harder to finish (ceasefire!). Major Famine in Sudan
It contributes by anger in South Sudan of president Omar Al-Bashir not giving famine to them. Omar Al-Bashir did not want to help the rebels he is fighting against by giving them food, but also starved the innocent in the South. This is a good decision for military, but not good for agricultural and
political. This is one of the things that the South Sudanese people are mad at and one of the main populational drainage from South Sudan. -
Darfur Conflict Starts
This brings more conflict by both sides thinks that they are way much better than each other . So, a huge attack, made by the North, started. ICC Declares Genocide in Darfur
It makes the whole wide world look at this war. This will make it harder to capture of rule off Omar Al-Bashir (president of Sudan at the moment), since he would know that he shouldn’t be going out in public. This could also create more conflict by pointing out how serious this war has become. -
Omar Al-Bashir becomes President
He basically made everything worse and made the south even more angry with the north. Thing he did were the following: poor treatment to the South, starving the South by not giving them enough food, abused the freedom of press, unfair choice in government, and a lot more. My Pic.
