The darfur people were very reliant on the egyptian and because of that they were heavily influenced by them too. This contributed to the conflict because even though the darfur people are pretty close to the same as other parts of Sudan they have things that make them different to them. It is when the egyptian forces conquered the sudan under the leadership of Muhammad ‘Ali . This contributed to the conflict in the sudan because the sudanese people were forced to leave for egypt,cultivate cotton, and be heavily taxed by the leader. ( Caroline's Powerpoint ) -

British Colonization of Sudan
The sudanese government was overthrown and the Sudan people were introduced to british laws. The british colonization help develop sudanese infrastructure, restored law, helped the economy grow, and instituted a modern government. This helped contribute to the conflict because the southern sudanese people were ignored and then given a little power but know enough to change a thing that happens in sudan to make life for their people better. Nimeiri Becomes President in Sudan
Pic. It is when Nimeiri became president and the democratic republic of Sudan was established. This contributed to the conflict because Nimeiri was a dictator and he disabolised all other political parties that was not his own. He was very cruel to the sudanese peoples. ( Caroline's Powerpoint ) -
Oil is First Discovered in Sudan
Pic.It is when the southern sudan people found oil in their land and thought that there poverty might go away. This contributed to the conflict because since the south Sudan people did not have a very good development. They were unable to clean the oil and ship it to other countries. When the northern sudan people found out that the south had oil and could not really sell it they cleaned the oil and shipped it for them but they kept all the money they received and did not give a cent to the south. -

This war is the continuation of the first civil war. This contributed to the conflict because president Nimeiri decided that he would not follow the peace agreement and that he would force the southern Sudan people to follow Sharia Law. -

PicIt is a group of people that fight against the government of sudan. SPLM/A stands for sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army. This contributed to the conflict because when the government and the SPLM/A made a agreement it was not followed it brought anger and distrust into the hearts of all. This trust fulled very bodys hearts with anger causing more fighting and death in Sudan.
