  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    The first military engagements under the of the America Revolutionary War. Fired off on April 19,1775 at Middlesex County, province of Massachusetts Bay. Happen within the towns of Lexington, Concord, and etc. Was an outbreak with armed conflict between Great Britain and the 13 Colonies in America. America took the victory as successfully drove British back to Boston. It was important b/c it was the start of the Revolutionary War.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The turning point of the Revolutionary War. Marking the climax of the Saratoga campaign. An British invasion through the Champlain Valley.Two small battles was fought to started the fired to the war. Ended with the British waving the white flag which basically the British surrender. The battle was important it was a crucial victory for the patriots in the American Revolution.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown, VA, where the american joined with the french against the british and the german troops.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    Created by the Second Continental Congress, an charted government for the northwest territory. It provided a method of admitting new states to the union from the territory. An list of bills of rights was guaranteed for the new territories. The Ordinance was making sure the new states was equal to the thirteen states. The Northwest Ordinance was important b/c it open the gate for basis government for the new territories.
  • Alien & Sedition Acts

    The Alien & Sedition Acts was passed in 1798, and signed by president Adams. The federalist congress was the main reason why it was passed. This act made clear to deport foreigners and made it harder to immigrants to vote. Which makes a new immigrant have to reside in the US for five years before they can be able to vote. The Alien and Sedition Acts was important b/c the congress took control when america was preparing war with France.
  • Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions

    The Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions was drafted between 1798-1799. Reason that Virginia and Kentucky took position b/c the fact that the Alien and Sedition Acts were unconstitutional. Also the fact to let known that the states had the power to nullify unconstitutional fed laws. While Jefferson was part of KY,and Madison was part of VA as they protest. The Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions was important b/c the congress was firmly in control by the feds, so it was handled by state legislature.
  • Marbury v. Madison

    This case established the judicial review. Also gave the federal courts power to declare executive and legislative decisions/acts unconstitutional. This important to US history b/c it challenged a law that was passed by the congress and signed by the president.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The land deal between the United States and France. Allowing the US to acquire approximately 827,000 square miles of the land on the west side of the Mississippi river for 15 million USD. It was important to US history b/c it gave the US control of the Mississippi river and the port connected to the city of New Orleans.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Passed by the congress, a bill was granting missouri statehood category as a slave state. which was under the condition of slavery was to be prohibited forever in the rest of the L.P north of the 36th parallel. To preserve the balanced of power in congress between the slave states and free states. Which include missouri as a slave state and maine as a free state. Its was important to the US history b/c it was the day the Missouri was category under slave states.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    A foreign policy statement, which made in 1823 which stated that the US would not interfere in affairs of the wars between the European nation. As recognized US would not affairs with existing colonies nor dependencies in the West Hemisphere. It was important to US History b/c it stop the European influence in the Americas which it did some how.
  • Nullification Crisis

    Declared the tariffs of 1828 and 1832 which were unconstitutional and unenforceable in South Carolina after Feb 1,1833. It was important to US history b/c it was one of the major causes of the civil war.
  • Texas Annexation

    Annexation of 1845 which brought texas into the US, which was the admitted of the Union as the 28th state on Dec 29,1845. It was important to US history b/c it rapidly led to the start of the war with mexico in 1846.
  • Oregon Treaty

    The set boundary between the US and Canada at the 49th parallel of the west side of the rocky mountains. It was important to US history b/c it was the first successful of the manifest destiny, which show the US is willing to fight 4 expansion.
  • Mexican Cession

    Recognized Texas as a US state and ceded a large chunk of land, about half of the area that belonged to the Mexican republic was given to the US for the cost of 15 mill. It was important to US history b/c it established our Mexican-united states border in Texas at the Rio grande river.
  • Compromise of 1850

    in an attempt to seek a compromise and vert a crisis between the north and the south, Henry Clay introduced a series of resolutions on Jan 29,1850. The Fugitive slave act was amended and the slave trade in DC was abolished. It was important to US history b/c texas lost territory but compensated with 10 million dollars to pay for its debt.
  • Kansas- Nebraska Act

    The Kansas Nebraska act allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. The act was made to repeal the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which prohibited slavery north of latitude 36°30'. This event was important to US history because it organized the remaining territory acquired in the Louisiana Purchase so that such territories could be admitted to the Union as states.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas, also known as the border war was a series of violent civil confrontations in the United States between 1854 and 1861. This was important to US history because it was a conflict that was characterized by years of electoral fraud, raids, assaults, and retributive murders carried out by anti-slavery and pro-slavery in Kansas and neighboring Missouri.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    The battle of Fort Sumter was started by the Confederate troops when they bombarded Charleston, South Carolina. even though there was a return of gun fire by the United States army they surrendered. this event important to US history because it marked the start of the American Civil War.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    Two months after Confederate troops opened fire on Fort Sumter to begin the Civil War, the Northern press and the public were ready for the Union Army to make an advance on Richmond ahead of the planned meeting of the Confederate Congress there on July 20. This event was important to US history because this was the first major land battle of the American Civil War armies in Virginia.
  • Battle of Antietam

    The American Civil War, fought between Confed. General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and Union General George B. McClellan's Army of the Potomac, near Sharpsburg, Maryland and Antietam Creek was the bloodiest day in United States history, with a total of 22,717 dead. This event was important to US history because not only was it the bloodiest day in history it also resulted in President Lincoln issuing his Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    On January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states " "shall be free." This document was already signed by Abraham Lincoln September 22 1862. The purpose of the Emancipation Proclamation was to encourage rebellious states to rejoin the Union. This event was important to the US history because it led the way to total abolition of slavery in the United States.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    The Siege of Vicksburg was the final major military action in the Vicksburg Campaign of the American Civil War. With Vicksburg being the last major Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River; capturing it completed the second part of the Northern strategy,also known as the Anaconda Plan. This event was important to US history because this victory gave them control of the Mississippi River and it split the states of the Confederacy.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1–3. in the town of Gettysburg, by Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War. The battle involved the largest number of 46,286 casualties of the entire war and is described as the wars turning point. This was important to US history because it was a Union victory that stopped Confed. Gen. Robert E. Lee's 2nd invasion of the North. 50,000+ men fell dead on the 3rd day, making it the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War
  • Gettysburg Address

    The Gettysburg Address was a speech that the U.S. President Abraham Lincoln delivered during the American Civil War at the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863, four and a half months after the Union armies defeated those of the Confederacy at the Battle of Gettysburg. this event was important to the US history because Lincoln’s 273-word address would be remembered as one of the most important speeches in American history.
  • 13th Amendment passed

    Passed by Congress on January 31, 1865 and ratified on December 6, 1865 the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States. The 13th amendment formally abolished slavery in the United States, passed the Senate on April 8, 1864, and the House on January 31, 1865. This was important to US history because it abolished slavery in the US.
  • 14th amendment passed

    The amendment grants citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States" which included former slaves who had just been freed after the Civil War. This was important in US history because It basically gave African Americans citizenship in the US.
  • 15th amendment passed

    Ratified on February 3, 1870, the 15th amendment granted African American men the right to vote. This was important to US history because African American men could finally vote.
  • Plessy v Ferguson

    It upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities as long as the segregated facilities were equal in quality. It was a doctrine that became known as "separate but equal", meaning we could be equal but we had to stay separate.
