Signing the Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was created by the Founding Fathers. We celebrate 4th of July because of the Declaration of Independence. July 4th was when people recieved their independence. -
Ratification of the United States Constitution
The final ratification was on May 29, 1790. The final state to ratify it was Rhode Island. At first they opposed, until the U.S government threatened to severe commercial realations. -
The Louisiana Purchase
President Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory for 15 million dollars. Once bought, the Louisiana Puchase doubled the size of the United States. (McDougal Littel, page 347) -
The Lewis and Clark Journey
The Louis and Clark Expedition was led by Meriwether Louis and William Clark. On their expedition, they've brought back helpful information. It also produced a well drawn out map of the Louisiana Territory. (McDougal Littell, Page 349) -
The Texas Revolution
The Mexican government owned Texas. They said Americans can settle there, but they'd have to follow Mexican laws. Settlers didn't decided not to and fought against the Mexican army. Texas then became an independent nation. (McDougal Littell, Page 428 & 431) -
The Donner Party
In 1846, Goerge Donner had led about 90 settlers on a new route. It was supposably a shorter route, but ended up being trapped for days by heavy snow. After their food ran out, they ended up turning into cannibals. -
The California Gold Rush
In 1848, there were people going to California. They went to California to find gold to get rich. This was called the California Gold Rush. This was also a global event. -
Uncle Tom's Cabin
This book reflected the feelings of Abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stow, the book expanded the life of slaves and the heart break they went through. Bleeding Kansas
In 1855, five thousand residents from Missouri came into Kansas and voted illegally for antislavery. An abolitionist, John Brown, led a massacre on five of his proslavery neighbors. A civil war broke out in Kansas and the creek where the victims were found was then called "Bleeding Kansas. (McDougall/Littel Page 487) -
The Assasination of President Abraham Lincoln
President Abraham Lincoln was assasinated at the Fords Theatre during a play. He was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln was the frist president in America to be assasinated. -

Word War 1 began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. World War I started with the assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. It was in Europe, with 10 million military deaths and another 20 million wounded. -

The Attack on Pearl Harbor
On December seventh, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor which is near Hawaii. More than 2,000 soldiers were killed, and about 1,000 were injured. President Roosevelt then wanted war on Japan. Japans alleys then declared war on the United States, then starting World War II. -
The dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
The US dropped a bomb on Hiroshima on August 6 1945. That marked the end of World War 2. We, as the US, were the first to use atomic bombs during the war. -

This event was held in Washington D.C. The event marked the beginning of Ronald Reagon's first term as president. He was the 40th president. -
The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle
The Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of its own seven crew members. The crew compartment and many other vehicle fragments were eventually recovered from the ocean floor after a lengthy search and recovery operation. Although the exact timing of the death of the crew is unknown, several crew members are known to have survived the initial breakup of the spacecraft. -
