    goal: his conclusion was that if he sailed East that he would end up in india but ended up in the new world.
    got money from queen isabella to sail East after the war with the muslims.
    columbus died in the new world (North and South America) thinking he was in India

    de pineda
    pineda was sent to explore the same year as cortes not being so lucky with gold he at least had a map of the whole south coast of the united states from florida to texas coast.
    his goal was not to find gold but to explore land and claim land for spain.
    the importance of him was that he knew were things were because of the map he made.
    pineda died a year later after his exploration but spain will now conquer his explored land.

    cortes sailed to mexico and conquerd the aztecs but originally the aztecs thought cortes was a god.
    he was given gold by the tons and ended up with 99 tons of gold coming back to spain.
    his goal was to find gold and land for spain.
    when he returned with tons of gold everyone wanted to go and explore after him.
    the importance was that spain got more gold and had more places to explore

    with over 250-300 men de vaca and his crew landed on Florida and claimed the land to spain. then they were attaked by indians and the ship sailed away without the men de vaca and his crew then made 5 make shift rafts and tryed to sail to a city in mexico but crashed on galveston island with only 80 men of the 300. when they landed on galveston they saw six foot tall karankawa indians. the real leader said everyman for himself and took all the strong men and tryed to sail to mexico. only 3 out of

    he was the first african americn in texas.
    he was one of the lucky survivers of the storms that killed lots of men on de vaca's trip.
    then in 1539 he went with fray marcos and coronado on there awful trip through many staes and lies.
    he was important because he want on many voyages throught the new world.

    fray marcos teamed up with coronado because they was a rumor of the seven cities of gold. they go to the spot that they were told from de vaca's story and they foind a small adobe village. they got so mad that they burned 125 indians alive and tortured them too. then an indian named the turk told them about a city that was really gold and so they had a journey up north and found a boring village so coronado told him to dig his own garve then stangled him to death. they got charged with money.
