Columbus finally landed in the Bahamas in the New World, setting off exploration. He was looking for a new route to Cathay, and thought he had found one. -

Pineda Sets Sail
Pineda mapped hundreds of miles of the coast, and proved Florida wasn't an island. This will set of De Vaca's voyage, eventually landing him in Texas. -

Cortez Sets Sail
Cortez came to bring gold back to spain, and to conquer the natives. He eventually conquered the Aztecs, and raided their cities. This will set off more exploration, as he found 99 tons of gold. -

De Vaca Voyage Start
De Vaca lands in Florida, to conferm Pineda's map. He is left behind with Narvez, his origional leader, and builds five crued rafts to sail back to Cuba. Instead, the expedition is hurled to Galveston, and Narvez is never seen again. He is the first to set foot in Texas. This let him gain further insight into the Indians. -

De Vac Discovers Texas
After being left behind, and then washing up on Galveston, De Vaca is in Texas. He is greeted by Karankowas, and taken in as a slave. He performs the first surgery in Texas, and becomes a respected medicine man. He meets Coahilotecans, Karankowas, and Jumanos along his way to go home. He is in the new world for a total of eight years, and is finally picked up by slave hunters in 1536. -

Fray Marcos and Estabon Search for Cibola
Fray Marcos and Estabon were sent to Mexico to search for Cibola, the Seven Cities of Gold. Estabon was a medicine man, and tried to procure gold and women for himself. The trieb he encountered had different views, and he was killed. Fray Marcos said to have seen Cibola, returned and future expeditions were launched. -

Coronado Begins Expedition
Coronado began to search for Cibola, along with Fray Marcos. He discovered that Cibola was nothing more than an Adobe village. He started back, when an Indian known as the "Turk" found them and told them of Quivera, a city greater than Cibola. He guided them to his people, also an Adobe village. Coronado burned it to the ground, killed the Turk, and started a battle. Fray Marcos slipped away, never to be heard from again. This will discourage future expeditions. -

De Soto's Expedition
De Soto and Moscoso traveled to Florida in 1538 to have one last look at Texas. Since De Soto wears gold armor, the I ndians think he is a god. He eventually dies near the Mississippi River, and is buried. Moscoso decides that if the Indians evr find his grave, they will know he isn't a god. So, he decides to dump him into the Mississippi River. They build rafts, and travel down. Half of the expedition dies, and Texas is then confermed "worthless" to the Spanish.
