He sailed across west across the Atlantic Ocean in search of a route to Asia.But ended up along the coast of the New Worlds. He made 4 trips to the new world.The first trip,he sailed across with three ships the Nina,Pinta,Santa Maria and landed in the Bahamas,which he thought was Japan, then Cuba,which he thought was China and Hispaniola,where they found gold.He left for his second trip on September 24,1493.Then on May 30,1498 he sailed for the third trip.On May 12,1502 he made his final trip. -

When he arrived,he searced for a water route to the Pacific Ocean. He sailed along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico from Florida (present day) down to Mexico. He was the first to have an accurrate map of Texas's coastline. -

In 1519, he landed on the coast of Mexico. Once he discovered the Aztecs, he gathered allies to defeat the Aztecs.The defeated the Aztec Empire in Tenochtitlan in 1521. -

He went on the Naraez expedition,which was a total disaster. They left on April 29,1527 but a hurricane hit them by the coastline by Cuba. Then they left for Florida and arrived on March 1528. -

He went Florida to explore for four years on an expedition.Then in 1542 he and his men crossed the Mississippi River. Soon after he became ill and died and Luis de Moscoso Alvarado took over the expedition. -

Once De Soto passed away, he took over the expedition. He made the goal to reach Mexico by land.They came across the Caddoes, they gave them food. The group kept going westward but then turned around and retraced their steps back to the Mississippi River.Then built vessals to go to Mexico. -

He was going to conquer Cibola and take their treasure. The goup traveled to Hawikuh pueblo.He traveled to other places that El Turco said would have great treasures. Once he found out that wasn't true he ordered his men to kill him. -

He sailed away from France in 1684 with 4 ships and 280 people.It was hard for people to get along with him, so they a lot of problems.One problem was when he sailed past the Mississippi River by more than 100-miles.But he hit Matagordo Bay, Texas (present day). He thought he was close to the river so he built a fort know as Fort St. Louis.
