    De Soto was the leader but fell ill at the Mississippi river of a fever. Moscosso took over after his death. He gave the same report that Coronado did.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
    to study the land to the North Evaluate. Estaban was the first black man in Texas. He was killed by one of the villagers because he demanded food and women. Fray Marcos reported he saw a city that shined and sparkled in the desert sun.

    He explored 5 states looking for the 7 cities of gold of Cibola and later looking for Quivera on the second part of the trip. He discovered the Texas palo Duro canyon and the Grand Canyon. His leader for the second part was Esteban. He reported that Texas was a bad place so, Spain did not return for 150 years.
