First to map Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Texas. This is was important because it led others to explore land on the Gulf coast. -

Narvez was the leader of this voyage and their goal was to find cibola or gold. They had heard of the 7 cities of gold. -

The men were shipwrecked. So they were only there due to misfortune. They were there for about 8 years. -

The purpose of the journey was to study the land to the North. However they did not succed. Frar reported that he saw a city filled with gold. -

Cornado's expedition
Cornado ofcourse wanted to find the 7 cities of gold. He searched for Quivera and Cibola. The importance of this journey was to find gold. -
Moscoso's Expedition
De Soto was the leader but Moscoso took over. They were looking for gold. De Soto died when they reached the Mississippi river, so they threw his body into the river. They dug him up after he was burried because they wanted the indians to believe he was like a god. But in the end they gave the same report as Cornado. Because of that Spain did not return for 150 years.
