    Trust vs Mistrust

Wilbur is a 15 month year old who latches on to only his mother. He cries and becomes restless when not in her arms, if she is in the immediate vicinity. He does not seem comfortable in the hands of his mothers friends. In Eriksons first stage, trust vs mistrust, the crisis is trusting other individuals for his wellbeing. He does not have the emotional connection with them as he does with his mother.

    Intimacy vs Isolation

Wilbur is now a 21 year old male who is in a healthy committed relationship. Earlier in life, he was distant and scared to lose his identity in a relationship. Now, he realizes he would not be lost and still be the same person but with a similar blended identity with a committed spouse rather than be the same person but isolated in life. In Eriksons sixth stage, the crisis is becoming emotionally intimate with another person while maintaining your own identity.

    Generativity vs Stagnation

Wilbur is now 40. He has two children and an amazing wife but worries about his children's inheritance. He wants them to prosper and remember him after his death but not just monetarily so he buys a plot of land in a undeveloped area. He knows that he himself will not be able to develop this land but he knows his children would have the ability to and it will be worth more in the future. In Erikson's seventh stage, the crisis is wanting to pass something of yourself on that will help others.
