    Mussolini was born on July 29th 1883 in Dovia di Predappio to Alessandro and Rosa Mussolini. He was born into a family that was more middle class. He was influenced by his fathers political views.

    Early Life

    As the oldest of three children, Mussolini so he spent most of his time in the black smith shop with his father. He was a very smart child but didn't listen causing him to get expelled from schools. After a long struggle he received his teaching degree in 1901.
  • Emigration to Switzerland

    In the year 1902 Mussolini emigrated to Switzerland. He worked as a stone mason and then started studying philosophy. He became active in the Italian Socialist Movement. He was arrested because of this in 1903. He was then deported to Italy and then moved back to Switzerland almost Immediately. He was then expelled for falsifying his papers so he moved back to Italy to serve in the military for two years.

    During the time span of 190-1913 Mussolini became very involved in Socialism. Mussolini translated papers and worked for a local socialist party temporarily. Mussolini also wrote a novel and two German literature stories. By 1911 he was a known socialist. He was anti-gay and anti-christian.

    Being kicked out of the Italian Socialist Party Mussolini decided to fight back. He raised money to start II Poplo d'Italia this was to have people to support the war. He joined the war in 1915 and fought in the front lines and soon was a corporal officer. He then got injured and sent home. After WW1 he resumed his political activeness.

    Mussolini marries Rachele Guidi and they have a daughter named Edda in 1910. He then has a son with a Ida Dalser in 1915 and then recognizes his son one year later.

    On March 23 1919, mussolini created the National Fascist Party. It consisted of 200 members. It focused on political goals and promoted aggressive war.

    On October 28th, 30,000 fascist people protested for Mussolini to be the Prime Minister. The king handed power over to him and he became prime minister on this day.
