Born
Kevin(my grandfather) was the first out of five siblings, Karan, Kenny, Kerry, Kathleen. All their names started with a K as his dads name was Kenneth. He was born at St.Elizabeth's hospital and they lived in Weston MA. This is a photo of him and his mom when he was a baby. -
In a Magazine
Kevins sister, Karan, was born with a RH blood condition which meant when she was born she couldn't live unless it was replaced. This is when she was the second baby to have a successful blood transfusion after birth and become RH-negative. This picture is the cover of the magazine of Kevin, his mom, and sister Karan. -
Dad Dies
When Kevin was 15 his dad died which meant he had to take over the role of being the man in the house and help his mom take care of his four siblings. His dad died due to brain cancer when he was 42 years old. This photo is of him with his mom, dad, and three siblings. -
Coast Guard
Kevin joined the coast guard during the Vietnam war. He would have been drafted or his brother Kenny would have had to go so he went instead. He also joined the coast guard so his college could be paid for because he knew his mom wasn't going to be able to afford it. He was based in New York so it was pretty quiet and safe. Later was stationed in Boston which made it easy for him to go home to his family more often. -
Married
Came back from the coast guard for a couple of days and married Deborah Pinto when he was 19 years old. They had been dating since he was 16 years old. -
First Child Born
Kevin Jr was born while he was still in the coast guard however, he made it home for the weekend of his birth. Kevin Jr. was born at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick MA. It was nice and close to Wellesley, where his wife was living with her parents while he was in the coast guard. -
Boston Architecture College
After he got out of the coast guard in 1974 he went to school and earned an architecture degree. He would go for a semester and then take a break and work to take care of his family. Kevin never ended up graduating because he already had a business and knew everything he needed to know. -
Second Child Born
7 years later he had his second child, Rebecca (my mom) on top of going to college. She too was born at Leonard Morse Hospital but because she was 9 weeks early she spent her first 5 weeks at the hospital in the NICU. This is a photo of Kevin and Rebecca when she was healthy enough to come home. -
Moved to Wellesley
Kevin and his wife bought her parents house on 50 Beechwood rd in Wellesley MA. -
Started His Own Business
During his years at Boston Architecture College he started his own business in his basement named Design West. He named his business that that because he was designing in the western parts of Boston. He had four employees that worked with him in the basement of his house in wellesley. -
Boston Marathon
Ran the Boston marathon twice, in 1995 too. This is a picture of him right after he finished the marathon. -
Nova Scotia Marathon
Went to Nova Scotia to run a marathon and while he was there before he got to run he got very sick and found out he had type 1 diabetes. However the next year ran the Boston Marathon with his diabetes. -
Favorite Design
2 Myles Standish Rd, Weston, MA was Kevins favorite house design. It is a 5 bedroom, 7 bath house that is worth about 4.4 million dollars. This picture is the actual drawing that Kevin drew while building this house. -
More People Moved in
His daughter, her husband, and two grandchildren moved in with him and his wife in Wellesley. There wasn't a ton of space for all 6 of them so they decided to knock it down and build a new house. This is a picture of the old house right after it was knocked down. -
Built and Designed His Own House
Kevin designed and built his own house while they all lived in Holliston. This is a picture of his floor plan designs of his house. -
Moved Into The New House
2 years later they all moved back into the new house, all 6 of them lived comfortably together in the new house. -
Retired
Kevin retired from designing and building but became a property manager for the last house he had designed which was 3 idlewile lane and is still doing that to this day. Kevin is very close with this family as you can see in the photo they let Kevin's family use their pool.
