After this event Malcolm blamed the nation of Islam as he believes their goal was to attack black nationalist On a positive note Malcolm x learned that " Hatred--not whites--was the enemy," he then believed nonviolent approaches to overcome racism may work. -

Malcom X was Assassinated
On this day Malcolm X was presenting a speech to the Organization of Afro-American Unity when suddenly a disturbance broke out in the crowd of 400 people. when Malcolm X and his bodyguards moved to stop the disturbance, a man rushed forward and shot him in the chest with a sawed-shotgun. Two other men charged the stage and fired handguns, hitting him 16 times members of the Nation of Islam. All three were charged in the case.
