Mendele was called for service at this time because of the outbreak of world war two. -
Auschuwitz
Auschuwitz was originally intended to house slave labors but was then turned into a labor camp and an extermination camp. Prisoners were transferred there from all over Europe. Jews were separated into two categories. Those deemed fit to work and those deemed not fit to work. Those who were not fit to work were immediately executed in the gas chambers. -

After requesting to transfer, he was assigned to Auschwitz. Here he was the chief medical examiner and saw the opportunity to conduct genetic research on the prisoners here. He mainly focused on twins and had little regard or care for the safety, health, or well being of the people he experimented on. -
Noma (a gangrenous disease of the mouth and face)
When this disease struck auschwitz Mengele initiated an investigation to find where the disease originated and how to cure it. During this investigation, the sick prisoners were separated in different barracks and the sick children were killed. Then there heads were cut off to preserve and send to SS medical academy. The remaining occupants of this study were killed in 1944. -

The twin research was claimed to have mainly been done to figure out ways for people with desirable races to have twins. -
Dr. Miklos Nyiszli arrives
Dr. Nyiszli arrived to auschwitz to help mengele with his experiments. The two dissected the human patients and prepared the specimen for shipment to learning centers. Together they did experiments on twins. -
Argentina
He sailed to Argentina with former SS members and lived around Buenos Aires. -
Paraguay
He fled from Argentina to Paraguay at this time. He lived here for about a year. -
Brazil
After living in Argentina for ten years then Paraguay for about a year, he fled to Brazil trying to escape from nazi hunters that wanted to bring him to trial for his wrong doings. -
