John Gotti is born on October 27th, 1940 in the Bronx, New York. He was the fifth of twleve siblings, his father was John Joseph Gotti Sr. and his mom was Philomena "Fannie" DeCarlo who were immigrants from Naples, Italy.

Chore Boy
Gotti at the age of twelve worked as a chore boy in an underground club. The club was run by the local largest organized crime family, Gambino, Carmine Fatico. There he met his mentor, Aniello Dellacroce.

Fulton Rockaway
At the age of 16 Gotti dropped out of high school and became the captain of the Fulton Rockaway gang. He did car-jackings and robberies. This was when he had his first arrest charged for disorderly conduct but he was dismissed.

By the time Gotti was eighteen he was a member of the Fatico gang. Gotti tried to stay clean and out of crime pressing coats and being an assistant truck driver but he soon fell back into crime. Gotti's job as a truck driver allowed him to learn important stuff such as how to value goods and how warehouses operate.

Truck Hijacking
As Gotti worked under Carmine Fatico he became involved in a full fledge criminal career. He carried out truck hijackings with his two brothers at JFK International Airport.

Busted
Gotti was busted by the FBI for the "United Hijacking" but got put out on bail. Even out on bail Gotti was arrested again for hijacking on the New Jersey Turnpike, and spent three years at Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary.

After Gotti was released he worked at the Bergin Hunt and Fish Club under Fatico. Where he proved himself to be an effective enforcer. Gotti managed the places illicit gambling, and was soon made Capo of the Bergin Crew. During, this time Gotti became closer to Dellacroce because of his frequent traveling to Dellacroce's headquarters at the Ravenite Social Club to brief the underboss.

After many years of moving up the ranks of the Gambino Family, Gotti was finally the head as former head Castellano was killed under Gotti's command. The Gambino family was considered as one of the most powerful American mafia family under his command.

Life in Prison
Gotti eventually got convicted and was arrested by the FBI for murder and racketeering after his underboss Sammy Gravano testified against him. Gotti was sentenced to life in prison in Marion, Illinois with no possibility of parole. He passed his position as acting boss to his eldest son John Gotti Jr.

Death
Gotti remained in jail until his death but was faced with assault from another inmate everyday. Gotti was also subjected to solitary confinement and was only let out for an hour a day. He died of throat cancer there
