    Cortes first set sail for Spain(Cuba) to find, and bring back gold.When he got to Mexico, he conquered the Aztecs and found alot of gold so he stayed there for a while.His findings of the gold led to more exploration of that area.

    Pineda mapped the gulf from Florida to the northern parts of mexico.
    When explorers heard about the map, they thought it would be great because if Cortes can find gold there, there must be more;therefore leading more people to explore the Texas area.

    After stopping at Hispaniola DeVaca and his men went to Cuba.During his trip they got caught in a hurricane, which sent them to Florida.When they got caught in the Mississippi river they're ships got washed away and crashed resulting in the men to make rafts and 'sail' to what is now Galveston, where he found the karankawas. He was in Texas for about 8 years.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban
    They were both sent to explore the area in the name of 'Catholicism'.Once they decided they would head towards the 7 cities of gold, Esteban jumped ahead.When Fray Marcos' crew almost arrived they got news that Esteban had been killed by the natives.Frightened he came back to Spain saying he had SEEN the seven cities of gold.

    He sailed to explore around Pineda's map with his original leader DeSoto .After sailing the Mississippi rive DeSoto caught a fever and died, which put Moscoso in charge.Once he returned to Spain he gave them the same report Coronado did, leaving Texas unexplored for the next 150 years.

    He sailed to Spain to find the seven cities of gold and Quivira with his guide, Turk.During the journey Cortes strangled him after making him dig his own grave.Going home with nothing, because he couldn't find anything, left a horrible report about Texas and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
