    Biography
    Henri Poincare was born on April 29, 1854, in Nancy, France. He was always top of his class and excelled in science. He studied mathematics from 1873 - 1875 at the École Polytechnique in Paris but received his doctorate in 1879 at the University of Paris. He got married to Louise Poulain d’Andecy on April 20, 1881 and ended with 3 daughters Jeanne, Yvonne, Henriette and 1 son Leo. He passed away in July 17th, 1912 of a blood clot to the brain during surgery.
  • Career

    Poincare was a mathematician, theoretical physicist, and a philosopher of science. After getting his doctorate he was a mine inspector for a short time and after submitting a dissertation on partial differential equations he was hired to teach differential and integral calculus at the University of Caen and he remained there until 1881. After he joined the University of Paris as a professor of Analysis and remained there until he passed.
  • Published papers

    Through his career Poincare has published many books that would make him internationally known. Some of his major works include "La Science et L'Hypothes". Published in 1901 and is one of his popular works that talk about mathematics, physics, space, and nature. Another book he published was called "La Valeur de la Science". Which was published in 1905 which talks about mathematical sciences and the relationship between intuition and logic. The books helped lead to new branches of mathematics.

    In conclusion Henri Poincare has made many innovations in geometry, topology, electromagnetism, and the philosophy of mathematics. He influenced many and even has numerous ideas named after him in the subjects of mathematics and physics. He was also nominated for the Nobel Prize 54 times between 1904 - 1912. This goes to show how significant he was throughout his life.
