George Washington was born on February 22 1732 on his fathers farm. However he celebrated it on the 11 because of the switching of the calendar which bumped his birthday back 11 days. -

When George Washington was eleven years old his father passed away leaving him in the care of his mother, Mary Ball. -
George Washington receives his first slaves
After his father's unfortunate passing, George inherited a number of slaves. Which ended up growing a large number. After he passed he declared in his will that his slaves were to be freed when Martha died. -
George Washington married Martha Dandridge Custis
After meeting him at a dinner party the widowed Martha grew close to the then continental solider George Washington. -
George Washington's stepdaughter passes away.
George Washington's step daughter had lived with him since she was a toddler. While growing up she experienced seizures which grew in frequency and severity as she got older and one day she when she was 17 years old she had a bad one. It's said she passed away, while Martha (the mom) search for help and George Washington held her hand. Reports said tears were streaming down his face. Martha (the daughter) passed away within a few minutes. -
The Revolutionary War starts.
After the battle of Lexington and Concord the war started. They used to be militia and minutemen and then they were soldiers. -
George Washington becomes the commander of the Continental Army.
Allegedly he arrived to the meeting wearing his military blues, the original choice was not George Washington but John Hancock. John Adams was the one who put his foot down and said Washington should be the commander. After they made John Hancock the president of their group to make him feel better. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
The most famous quote from this battle was "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" because they were low on supplies but had the advantage of the hill. They clobbered the British. -
The Battle of Long Island
They fought valiantly but didn't have the advantage of size or might so were almost wiped out. The miniscule amount left was saved by New Jersey fishermen. -
The Battle of Trenton
After crossing the stormy, icy Delaware River, Washington and Co attacked the hessians residing there. It was after Christmas so the British/Germans were drunk and tired. It got them much need supplies. -
Revolutionary War ended
After over five years of fighting General Charles Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington. The british band played the world has turned upside down while they surrendered. -
George Washington's stepson passes away.
He was helping in the siege of Yorktown when he caught "camp fever" an epidemic of a disease before passing away. -
The Constitution is ratified
New Hampshire ratified the constitution, fulfilling the nine of thirteen rule, which allowed the first presidential election to begin. -
He was inaugurated in office.
John Adams jokingly suggested that they call him Your Highness but George Washington quietly requested to be called Mr. President instead. He was unanimously voted into office by the states. -
The first law defining citizenship is passed.
Congress passed this defining how you become a citizen of the U.S, and what being a citizen meant. -

George Washington passes the first copyright law at the insistence of congress. It granted the authors the right to publish, print, or re-print for fourteen years before it had to be removed. -

It directed the debt to the government from the states. Enforcing the governments power. -
The Capital moved from Philadelphia
After a discussion it was decided by congress to move the capital from Philadelphia. It was moved to appease southern states who might feel prejudice from a northern capitial. -
Vermont becomes a state.
Vermont's application for statehood was accepted. It became the 14th state. A fun fact about Vermont is that they were the first to abolish slavery in their constitution. -
The capital is named.
The capital is named Washington in honor of the first president, because it was the first national capital. I chose this picture because the county was like George here, young and scrappy. -
The Bill of Rights is ratified.
The Bill of RIghts was ratified establishing the first ten amendments. Washington called for it in his inauguration speech. -
Kentucky becomes a state.
Kentucky's application for statehood was accepted. It became the 15th state. A fun fact about kentucky is that they have the largest cave system in the world at Mammoth caves. -
Construction on the President's Mansion starts.
George Washington laid down the cornerstone for the mansion. However he was out of office before it was finished making him the only president not to reside in the White House. -
Washington Re-elected
George Washington was unanimously re-elected for president with John Adams becoming his vice president again. -
George receives the French Envoy
While the French Revolution was going on the French sent an envoy to the US to remind them of the treaty and to join the war. However it backfired as George was sure a war this soon would destroy the nation they fought so hard for. A undefined amount of time later the French were unsatisfied with his results and put a warrant out for his arrest. George Washington let him stay in the U.S to help save his life. -
The Whiskey Rebellion
After a tax was placed on whiskey, Virginian farmers rebelled against it causing George Washington to send in the continental army to remind them that that behavior was unacceptable. -
The Jay Treaty was signed
The Jay treaty's purpose was to help promote peace between Britain and the US. Mainly by settling differences that were not covered by the treaty of Paris. -
Tennessee becomes a state
Congress accepted Tennessee's request to become a state. It was the 16th state. A fun fact about Tennessee was that one of their lakes was created by an earthquake. -
George Washington leaves office for the last time
After he left he retired to Mount Vernon where he lived with Martha. If I had to summarize his speech it was, I am tired I am going home, good luck to the next guy. -
George Washington dies from a common cold mixed with blood loss.
After riding around his property on a rainy day he caught a cold and as was customary those days doctors removed large amounts of his blood believing it would help. Which actually killed him faster.
