This stage of life involves the challenge of initiative vs guilt. Samuel is becoming capable of planning activities for the future, but discouragement can ultimately lead to guilt. -
Adolescence
Samuel and his girlfriend broke up in history class after realizing that he might be gay. Samuel is having trouble figuring out who he really is and what he is meant to do. This is from the challenge in life development known as identity vs confusion. -
Early Adulthood
Samuel and john have been together for a few years, and last week John talked to him about getting married. Samuel has been stressing since then, because although he thinks he loves John, he does not know if he is ready to jump into such a commitment. This challenge of life development is known as intimacy vs isolation. Samuel will have to figure out whether he is willing to be vulnerable or become isolated.
