He was a member of the Anti-Imperialist League. Many of his writings expressed the ideas and problems of America. He often wrote about politics, religion, and race. He wrote more than than ten books in this time period.

    Won Worldwide recognition in the first third of the twentieth century as a pioneer social worker in America, as a feminist and as an internationalist. Addams co-founded one of the first settlements in the United States. She also complied her talks on ending war in the world in 'Never Ideals of Peace ' published . she became the first female president of the national conference of charities and connections. To sum it up all of these accomplishments contributed to the win of the Nobel Peace Prize.

    Ford created the ford model T car in 1908 and went on to develop the assembly line made of production which revolutionized the industry. Sold millions of cars and became the world famous company head. Having a lasting effect. In 1914 he sponsored the development of the many assembly line technique of mass production, at the same time he introduced the US-per-day wages.

    He was the president of the United States of America from 1869- 1877, he was mostly known for his miltary career. During this era, he pursued the KKK in South Carolina and effictively disabled the organization. This has set the stage for more monopoly and public unrest over the accumulation of wealth and increased corruption. I chose this Grant because he had a very succesful military career and I find the intresting.

    Although Lincoln was assinated in 1865, he caused many events that affects this era, his election in November 1860 made several Southern states secede, he also proved himself to be a shrewd militray strategist and a savvy leader during the Civil War. his Empnicipation Proclamation freed slave, and it lead the way for Slavery's eventual abolition. I chose to learn about this man becuase he was the president of the United States and he was the person who ttriggered all these events.
  • Thaddeus Stevens, 1792-1868

    Thaddeus Stevens, 1792-1868
    He was the most famous Radical Republican in the House of Represenative (1849-53,59-68). He served as a chairman of the joint commitee on Reconstruction and determined to treat the southern states as "conquered provinces." Him and the other Republicans passed Civil Rights legislation and the 14th Amendment over Johnson's veto, he was genuniley commited to help black socail equality! I chose him because he was a man who overpassed the presidents choice and made a new law for the sake of humantiy.

    He was the leader of the Radical Republicans and lifelong proponent of social equality for blacks.He strongly supported Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and claimed that the Confederate states had committed suicide by seceding. He also led the fight for the "RR" program that sought to ensure liberty and equality for blacks and enfranchisement for black men. He was intresting to research because he was the leader of the Radical Republicans and he also supported black men's rights.

    He launched his career in 1894 as a professional magician a Continued his act in the US in the early 1900's, constantly upping his acts from anywhere to getting out of handcuffs,straight jacket, water-filled tanks and nailed packing crates.In 1912 his act was reached its pinnacle- the Chinese water Torture cell,which was the hallmark of his carren, he was tied upside down by his feet.It was filled with water requiring him to hold his breath for more than 3 minutes to escape.

    In 1862, President Lincoln appointed him military governer of Tennessee, he used the state as a laboratory for reconstruction. In 1864, the National Union Party, who valued loyal men, nominated him for Vice President. After Lincoln's assination, he was sworn into office and he still proceeded to reconstruct the nation (1809-1865). I chose to do research about this man because I thought we should know more about him since he was the 1st president to be impeached but not taken out of office.

    Pablo Picasso was a very skillful writer who did a lot of work in the progressive era. All though he suffered from severe depression which he incorporated into many of his works during "They Blue Period" he overcame it and carried on his artwork. During this era, he also entered into his Rose period which lasted from 1904-1906. He Created many works and developed himself to out production.
