Augustus dies
Augustus died while visiting the place where his birth father died, Nola. It is not known for sure how Augustus died, but many say his wife Livia gave him a poisoned fig. Publically, his last words were, "Behold, I found Rome of clay, and leave her to you of marble." His last last words though were, "Have I played the part well? Then applaud as I exit." His step son Tiberius, becomes princeps. -
Alexandria captured
As a result of Octavian's victory both Mark Antony and Cleopatria die. As young Caesarion and Marcus Antonius Antyllus had both reached their manhood, they too were killed. -
Mark Antony divorces Octavia
Not only does Antony divorce Octavia, he does it for Cleopaatra whom the Romans never really liked anyway. So needless to say the Romans are pretty pissed. Octavia takes all Antony's kids except the oldest, Antyllus who goes to live with his dad. This leads to one of Antony's closest advisers, Lucius Munatiius Plancus, deserting him and going to Octavian. -
Julia the Elder born
The same day Octavian's only natural child is born, he divorces his wife Scribonia for his lover, Livia, whom he marries later. -
Julius Caesar deified
Julius Caesar is given god status. Augustus uses this to elevate his image by claiming he was the son of a god. -
Battle of Mutina
Aulus Hirtius (Hirtius), Gaius Vibius Pansa Caetronianus (Pansa), and Octavian win the battle against Mark Antony resulting in Octavian and the Republic signing a treaty with Mark Antony. Though both Hirtius and Pansa both ended up dying, Octavian was just fine, and got a good reputation too! The republic told Octavian to send Hirtius and Pansa's troops to Decimus Brutus, but Octavian refused and took control of the troops himself landing him with eight legions loyal to him and only him. -
Octavian Consul

Second Triumvirate
Augustus, Octavian, and Lepidus form the second triumvirate and launch the proscription which leads to the death of Cicero. Augustus describes this as, "I drove the men who slaughtered my father into exile with a legal order, punishing their crime, and afterwards, when they waged war on the state, I conquered them in two battles.(The Deeds of the Divine Augustus 2) -
Julius Caesar assasinated
After Julius Caesar's death, Gaius Octavius is adopted as his son and heir. He changes his name to Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus as is usually referred to as Octavian during this period. It is around this time he begins rounding up his own personal troops. -

Gaius Octavius (Augustus) is born in Rome, Italy. He is named after his father, Gaius Octavius and his mother is Julius Caesar's niece, Atia Balba Caesonia.
