De Vaca Event
If they weren't so desperate that they would eat their horses, they could travel longer, and with the help of Narvaez. They would be able to maybe find the seven cities of Cibola, and come back as legends of Spain. -

The First Change
If they didn't eat their horses, then they wouldn't have needed to build boats to travel to Cuba. They could've kept going on with their expedition to find gold. If they didn't build the boats, they wouldn't have landed on Galveston Island. They wouldn't have met the Karankawas, or the Coahuiltecans, and De Vaca wouldn't become the first person to perform surgery in Texas. -
Feb 10, 1529
The Expedition Goes On!
De Vaca and Narvaez have survived the first winter with most of their crew. They ride through Florida, and they end up in Georgia. They don't find any gold, yet. They travel all the way, and they hit Texas. -
May 30, 1529
Caddo Indians are Aggressive
They come into Texas through the East side, and they meet the Caddo Indians. They ask if they can stay in their village for a few years. The Caddoes say , "No!" This results in Narvaez losing his life, and 100 people in their expedition who lost their life. And 25 people who lost 1 or more limbs. -
Sep 27, 1530
The Depression
De Vaca is now the leader, for he is the only one who can guide them back home. So they go through Texas, reach the Gulf, and they build 10 boats to carry them back to Cuba. They misjudge the way to Cuba, and 6 years later, De Vaca lands in India. He is the last survivor, and when he lands, he breaks down, and he cries himself to sleep. -
Aug 1, 1537
The Final Step
De Vaca asks the real Indians if they could lend him a boat, clothes, and some food for the journey back to Spain. They oblige, and he sails back to Spain, but when he steps into the presence of the King looking so splendid in his crown, he dies, at the foot of royalty.
