Birth of Einstein
Einstein was born in Germany. He was the first of three children born to Herman and Pauline Einstein. The exact date he was born is still unknown, and speculated. -
He Found His Passion Early
It had been said that he had taught himself geometry beginning at twelve years old. At sixteen, he failed an exam so he could qualify to train as an electrical engineer. He wanted to use the knowledge he had to certify himself. Taking what he had learned as an engineer, Einstein decided to study math and physics so he could become a teacher. -
The Beginning of a Legacy
Einstein wrote a paper arguing what is now known as the special theory of relativity. His paper wrote that the laws of physics had to have the same form in any frame of reference and the speed of light was constant. Later that year Einstein also showed the equivalency of mass and energy . -
Then it Came True
In 1916 Einstein published his general theory of relativity. It showed relativity between gravitation, acceleration, and the four dimensional space-time. Using that information, he was able to keep up with the variations in the orbital motions of the planets. He knew and officially predicted that starlight from the center of a massive source of light such as the sun could be bent. This was confirmed in 1919 during a solar eclipse. -
First Award Received
He won the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work on the photoelectric effect.
