    We are introduced to a 30 year old man named Winston. He's a part of the party and finds a diary that is hidden from the telescreens (ways the government watch the people)
  • Facecrime

    Facecrime
    Winston is in discussion with some collegues within the party and they are interrupted by an announcement from the government on the telescreen. He zones out and when he comes back he realizes a girl is staring at him. He thinks she is going to report him for Facecrime.
  • Hope

    Hope
    Winston realizes the only way to overthrow this totalitarian dictatorship is with the proles. They are the normal every day people but are all brainwashed by the party.
  • Evidence

    Evidence
    A piece of paper comes to Winston while at work that shows an incident that the party tries to cover up or erase from history. Winston thinks about keeping it but then throws it down the memory hole where it is destroyed.
  • Old man

    Old man
    Winston is wondering the streets just thinking about how it used to be before the party was and he wonders if anyone else is like him. So he strolls into a pub and starts to talk to an elderly gentleman. This man has no recollection of time before the party existed.
  • Getaway

    Getaway
    Winston soon walks out of the pub and goes across the street to an antique shop. Mr. Charrington the owner, offers him a room upstairs that he would rent for a small fee. Winston realizes this room has no telescreen.
  • The girl

    The girl
    The girl that was staring at Winston after he zoned out during the announcement falls one day at work by his station. So he gets up to help her and as he does, she slips a piece of paper into his hand. Written on the piece of paper is "I love you".
  • Captured

    Captured
    Winston and this girl named Julia go on many dates that are in locations very secluded from everyone else. They have sexual relations that are prohibited by the party. On one of their dates in the room with no telescreen, the thoughtpolice catch them. Mr. Charrington is a member of the thoughtpolice.
  • Torture

    Torture
    Winston is tortured for his crimes that he has committed. O'Brien, the interrogator, tries to brain wash Winston. He refuses at first but eventually the pain is too much and he gives in to being brainwashed by the party.
  • Death

    Death
    Winston goes through the process but is not successful. He cannot think 2+2=5 or that the party has always existed. Once O'Brien realizes this they shoot him so he can never start a revolution against the party.
