Birth
Winston Churchill was born at his grandfathers home in Malbrorough,England. His parents were Lord Randolph Churchhill and his mother Jennie Jerome. Churchill was one of two children in the Chuchill home, Six years after he was born, his brother Jack was born.(Costigan) -
Schooling
Churchill was never a great student in school and sort of a trouble maker. In 1887 Churchill was accepted into the prestigous Harrow Schoo. In Harrow is where Churchill began studying military tactics.(Costigan) -
Graduation
After Churchill graduated from Harrow, he was acctepted into Sandhurst which was a royal military collage in 1893. In decemer of 1884 he graduated at the top of his class. Churchill was given a commission as a cavalry officer.(Keegar) -
First book
After Churchill had seven months of basic training, he was given his first leave. Churchill traveled to Cuba to watch Spanish military shut down a rebellion. Churchill made plans to be a war correspondent for Londons Daily graph. This was the beggining of his writing career. When Churchills leave was up he went to India to also watch their military in action. From all Churchills experiences he wrote his first book, The Story of the Malakand Field Force in 1898.(Costigan) -
Captured
In 1899 Churchill had faied to get into the Parliment. So then he travels to the Boer as a journalist. Churchill is captured during the war but escapes.(Costigan) -
Wright brothers
On December 17th 1903 the Wright brothers launched the first ever plane. Orville Wright piloted the first ever plane. This changed the world and we are still on this present day improving it, and it all started with their invention.(americanlibrary.com) -
Government
In 1905 Churchill was asked to become the Under-Secretary of State because the Liberal party won the national election. Then in 1908 he was promoted to the President of the Board of trade, also in 1910 he was made Home Secretary.(Costigan) -
Military
In October of 1911, Churchill was ,made First Lord of the Admiralty. The First lord of Admiralty was in charge of the British navy. Churchill spent three years working very hard to strengthen the British navy becasue he was worried German militaries strength.(Keegar) -
World War 1
World War 1 was a very boody and cause huge losses of life and little was lost or won. The war sparked was when the assassination or Austrias Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914. The war lasted from 1914 to 1919.(beck) -
U.S. World War I
On April 6th 1917 the U.S.A. joined World War I. They joined Britian, France, and Russia. Two million Americans fought in France. Many Americans were not in favor of the U.S. joining the war and wanted them to stay neutral.(americanlibrary.com) -
Solo flight: Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean. In 1932 is when she left for her flight. She caused many people to have more respect for women.(americanlibrary.com) -
Government
On September 1 1939, Nazi Germany attack poland. At this time Churchill had been out of goverment for ten years. After that happened Churchill was asked once again to become the First Lord of the Admiralty.(Costigan) -
Military
When Nazi Germany attacked France on May 10, 1940, it was time for Chamberlain to step down as Prime Minister. Appeasement hadn't worked; it was time for action. The same day that Chamberlain resigned, King George VI asked Churchill to become Prime Minister. (Keegar) -
D-Day
On June 6th of 1944 western allies went to northern France, They need to stop Hitler and they stood their ground against him basically. The event was planned out very stategically.(beck) -
USA president assassinated
On November 22, 1963 John F. Kennedy was assassinated. John F. Kennedy was shot while he was riding in a parade through Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas. The crime was never solved.(whitehouse.gov) -
Death
In June of 1962 Churchill fell out of a hotel bed and broke his hip. Then on January 24, 1965 at 90 years old he fell into a coma. On January 24th 1965 Churchill had died. He had been a member of the Parliament until the year before he died.(costigan)
