Who is Don Bosco?

  • Birth

    Jhon Bosco was born on the evening of 16th August 1815 in the hillside hamlet of becchi Italy. He was the youngest son of Francesco Bosco and Margarita Occhiena. He had 2 older brothers Antonio and Guiseppe
  • Death of his father

    At the age of 2 his father Francisco Bosco died of pneumonia
  • The 9-year-old dream

    The 9-year-old dream
    At the age of 9 Jhon saw a dream. In his dream Jhon found himself fighting a group of rowdy boys,he tried to stop them but they refused to listening. Suddenly a men appeared in front of Jhonn: "You will not help these boys by fighting with them, you can live only by Goodness". Then a woman appeared before him. The woman waved her hand and the boys turned into a snarling wild animals and when the woman put out her hand the beast changed again to a flock of lambs

    When he turned 20 he took one of the most important decisions of his life: He entered a Seminary
  • He is ordained a priest

    He is ordained a priest
    After 6 years of intense hard work he was ordained as a priest. He changed his name to Don Bosco as per the Italian tradition. Now Don Bosco was finally able to dedicate himself full-time to the abandoned boys he had seen in his dream
  • The oratory begins

    The oratory begins
    He took a decision to do wathever it takes to prevent the boys ending up in prisions. Don Bosco meet the first boy on December 8 1841 he took care of him, three days later there were 9, three months later 25 and in summer 80. Every Sunday they would meet in a different spot: a city church, a cementery chapel or an empty lot. Don Bosco would heard their confession and say Mass for them an hour of religious instruction would follow.

    In the autunm of 1853 Don Bosco came to decision. He started shoe making and tailoring shops in the oratory. Afther these shops for shoemakers and tailors Don Bosco build other shops aimed to training bookbinders, carpenters, printers and mechanics six shops in wich the privileged place was reserverd for orphans, the poor and totally abandoned boys
