Werner Heisenberg was born in Würzburg in 1901. His father was Dr. August Heisenberg, and his mother was Annie Wecklein. His father was one of his big influences for having the passion to purse the science he loved. Heinsenberg went on to teach himself calculus while trying to publish a scientific paper as a teenager. Even though Heinsenberg had a deep passion and love for science he also really enjoyed music and he had started playing piano early in his life and continued for his entire life.

    College Life

In 1920 he was at the University of Munich where he would receive his doctorate in 1923. After that Heisenberg went to Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. It was in his time at Copenhagen that he completes method of calculating the energy levels of "atomic oscillators." A fellow physicist sent this off where it was printed, and this earned him fame and recognition and he later became professor of theoretical physics at the university of Leipzig. In 1932 he received a noble prize for physics.

    Heisenberg War Years

Heisenberg in the beginning was held in low regard by the nazi party being that he was a theoretical scientist in 1933-45 under the Hitler leadership. He was even considered a suspect during this time. It wasn't until WW2 that the government appointed him as director of the German uranium project. This was where he would work on developing an atomic bomb for Germany. Heisenberg was arrested during April of 1945 in England and wouldn't be released until the summer of 1946.

    Heisenberg end life.

After WW2 Heisenberg did much to reorganize scientific research. In the 1950's he worked on the formulation of the theory of fundamental particles. In 1955-56 he wrote and published Physics and Philosophy while also publishing and writing many other books on philosophical and cultural significance of atomic and nuclear physics. In 1958 his theories were talked about at an international conference. Heisenberg retired in 1970 and his heath declined in 1973 and he ended up passing away in 1976.
