Born under the name Warren Edward Buffett on August 30, 1930 as the second of three children and the only boy. -
First investment at 11 years old.
At 11 years old, Buffett invested 3 shares into Cities Service Preferred at $38 per share. He sold them at $40, but regretted doing so because the value later increased to $200. He regards this as one of his first important lessons in patience in investing. -
Pinball Machine Business
While living in Fredricksburg, Virginia, Buffett and one of his accomplices bought a used pinball machine for $25. They installed it in a barbershop, and used the resulting profits to buy a few more machines before selling the busines for $1200 -
Buffett has his own businesses
By the age of 13, Buffett was already running his own businesses as a paperboy and selling his own horseracing tip sheet. The same year, he filed his first tax returns, claiming his bike as a $35 tax reduction. This was a prime example of his business expertise at a very young age. -
Higher Education and Early Career
