At age of 16 started to work for an art dealer in The Hague. -
Theo's suggestion
In 1880, Van Gogh followed his brother Theo's suggestion and took up paingind in earnest. -
Τhe move to Paris
In Spring 1886 Vincent went to Paris,he moved in with his brother Theo. -
He discovers and appreciates impressionist artists.
He discovered impressionism and liked its use of light and color.Especially the technique known as pointillism made its mark on Van Gogh's. -
The argument with Gauguin.
Near the end of 1888,an incident led Gauguin to ultimately leave Arles,after a number of arguments with Vincent.Van Gogh pursued him with an open razon,was stopped by Guin,but ended up cutting a portion of his own ear lobe of. -
He produced a lot of paintings when he was at the asylum.
Van Gogh then began to alternate between
fits of madness and lucidity and was sent to the
asylum in Saint-Remy suffering with depression.
He spent much time in the asylum, though it was
later believed that he suffered from epilepsy. -
His death
On July 27 of the same year, at the age of 37, after a fit of painting
activity, van Gogh shot himself in the chest. He
died two days later, with Theo at his side, who
reported his last words as "The sadness will
last forever". He was buried at the cemetery of
Auvers-sur-Oise; Theo unable to come to terms
with his brother's death died 6 months later and
was buried next to him.
