Aaron Shimer Oberly mails a friend about how they were attacked by other warships, or as he says schooners, he says that other than that no harm was done. He speaks of how the captain was almost send home due to one of the little boats springing a leak and almost killing many people. -

Aaron writes a diary speaking about around 20 ships being docked at the same harbor in Key West. He writes how they had orders to go and tow another boat in but as they wer leaving the order was revoked. At that point they had not known what their next expidition was. -

He mails Maria telling her about how he was about to start working on a school ship in New Port. He talks about how he has a nice room that he can relax in for the night. He said he might be sent out to sea. -

Aaron mails a friend about how he was sailing to New York that afternoon. The mail truck that day had nothing on it so he decided to send something out. -
A collision with a steamboat kills a few soldiers
Information on Casualties of the Civil WarHe writes a diary about how a few men died after a collision with a steam boat, though there was little damage to either vessel. They had to get the boat checked by a commander to get his approval on it being safe for sailing. -

Aaron admits he would die without Maria
Aaron sends a letter to Maria saying their hearts are entertwined and that he wouldn't be able to live without her. He says that he hopes to see them get married when he returns. -
