George Crosses the Pond
George Weymouth crossed the pond in the ship Archangel, along with a group of colonists. His job was to find a good place to start an English Catholic colony. He wanted Catholics to be able to worship freely. He started a Catholic colony along St. George River, but it failed. However, he wanted to go back to England with something special, not just a native canoe. -
George "Befriends" Natives
George finds a group of Native Americans and pretends to befriend them. He is hoping that he can capture one and bring him/her back to England. -
George Kidnaps Natives
George kidnaps five natives, including Squanto, who was from Cape Cod, and brings them back to England. -
George Sends The Captives Away
Once in England, George sent three of the captives to live with a wealthy merchant named Sir Fernando Gorges. He sent the other two to live with Sir John Popham, the most powerful judge in England. Both people treated the Natives well, taught them English, and even promised to return them to their homeland. They loved listening to them tell their stories about life in their tribes. However, the natives still wanted to return home. -
Squanto Returns Home-Almost
Captain John Smith returns Squanto to Cape Cod, but he was soon captured again by yet another Englishman, Thomas Hunt. He is kidnapped and sold into slavery in Spain -
Squanto Escapes!
A Spanish priest helps Squanto escape. Now he is in England, living with the monks. -
Oh No!
Squanto returns home to find that everyone in his tribe had died of disease and sickness. A plague had spread(smallpox) while he was gone, and now he is on his own. -
Squanto Finds His Way
Squanto walks westwards until he finds a chief named Massasoit. The chief became his leader and then he told Squanto to help the Pilgrims settle in to Plymouth. He obeyed these orders and taught the Pilgrims how to grow corn, along with many other helpful tasks. Thus is the story of Squanto. -

Goodbye Squanto
Squanto died from a fever in Chatham, Massachusetts while serving as a guide for Governor William Bradford. May he rest in peace.
