Todoroki's Timeline

  • Infancy: Trust versus Mistrust

    Todoroki's parents were reliable but cold leading him to be slightly mistrustful of other people
  • Toodlerhood: autonomy vs shame

    Todoroki's father was controlling over his actions, and strict with his punishments leading Todoroki to have a sense of shame when he makes a mistake. Because of his father's controlling nature Todoroki does not develop a healthy sense of self and feels his only purpose is to become the fighter his father wants.
  • Early childhood: initiative versus guilt

    Todoroki's father encouraged him to develop his fighting skills and strength, leading Todoroki to develop an initiative to become a strong fighter. After being scarred by his mother and abused by his father Todoroki became scared to speak up for himself.
  • Late Childhood: Industry versus Inferiority

    Todoroki's social world was limited by his father and was made to solely focus on developing his skills, leading him to develop industry but only in the realm of fighting.
  • Adolescence: Identity versus Identity Confusion

    In early adolescence Todoroki feels Identity confusion because of his Father's controlling nature, but after his match with Izuku and Izuku's advice to him, Todoroki realizes he's more than his father's fighting machine, and begins to form an indentity that is based on who he wants to be, rather than who his father wants him to be.
  • Early Adulthood: Intimacy versus Isolation

    Todoroki remains friends with his fellow 1A graduates Izuku, Bakugo, Kirishima and Momo after he becomes a pro-hero, allowing him to feel accepted and understood by his friends.
  • Middle Adulthood: generativity versus stagnation

    Todoroki begins work as a homeroom teacher at UA where he uses his knowledge and wisdom to teach new classes of aspiring heroes.
  • Late Adulthood: Ego Integrity versus Despair

    After retiring from UA and from being a pro-hero, Todoroki can retire comfortably as one of the most well-loved heroes. He looks back fondly on his adventures and still appears at UA sometimes to give lectures to students.
