Toussiant was born a slave in Saint Dominique sometime between 1739-174 -

In 1776, Toussaint was freed from his plantation. He continued to work there to gain financial stability, as well as owning his own dozen slaves that worked there as well. -

After Leclerc’s promise to not restore slavery, he went back to his retirement to a plantation. -

He marries Suzanne Simone Baptiste Louverture who people believe to be his cousin or godfathers daughter -

A slave rebellion begins and Toussiant leads, he speaks with the french leaders -

Toussiant switches sides and supports the french due to the fact they abolished slavery. The Spaniards were banished from Sant Dominique and Toussiant works hard to recondition the island -
Governer-General
Toussiant becomes the governer-general of saint dominique -
Treaties with the British
Toussaint made treaties with the British, and promised not to invade Jamacia or South America. The British also wanted him to be the king of Hati, but due to their laws of slavery he refused it. -
Death
Toussaint was invited to a meeting by napoleon and a french general who suspect him of planning an uprising, he is sent to jail. Toussiant later dies at 59 years old in jail
