Jacobs vision of a ladder
Jacob lies down for a rest and has a vision of a stairway to Heaven. He sees God and is promised to be watched over and take care of his people and their land. He realized that this was the gate to heaven. -
Esau gives up his birthright to Jacob.
Jacob tricks Esau into giving up his birthrights. Esau returned from hunting famished and exhausted. Jacob had cooked a stew and told Esau that if he wanted some he needed to give him his birthright. Esau was so hungry that he swore on oath to turn over his birthright to jacob, so that he could eat. -
Death of Abraham
Abraham lived a long and healthy life just as God said he would. He died at the age of 175. Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the Cave of Machpelah near Mamre.Abraham left all of his wealth to Isaac. -
Rebekah is pregnant with twins.
She has two boys the first born named Esau and the second son named Jacob.Esau is strong, a good hunter and not as intelligent as his younger brother Jacob. The first born male should be given all of the fortunes from his father, but Jacob was more suitable for the role. -
Isaac marries Rebekah
Abraham sends his senior servant and several camels loaded with food and treasures. The servant waits by the watering well because he knows the young ladies of the village will come there for water. Rebekah came along to get water and was offered to marry Isaac, the servant explained that he was given the will of God and would have a nation. Rebekah brought the jewels to her family as an offering for her marriage, which was accepted. -
Abraham offers Isaac to God
Abraham follows Gods directions and loads up the donkey and his only son Isaac and travels to the Region of Moriah. There Isaac will be offered to God as a sacrifice.Instead God spared Isaac because Abraham did everything that was asked and instead gave Abraham a ram to sacrifice. -
Hagar and Ishmael are sent away.
Under Sarah’s orders the slave Hagar and her son by Abraham were sent away. God told Abraham not to worry about sending the slave and boy away because Isaac was going to be a nation and that he needed to listen to Sarah. Abraham gave Hagar a skin of water and sent her away. Hagar traveled through the desert of Beersheba. -
Isaac born son of Abraham and Sarah
When Isaac was eight days old Abraham circumcised him. Isaac became weak and Ishmael was making fun of him. Sarah wanted Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. -
God Promises birth of Isaac
God visits Abram, he is losing hope of having a son with Sarah, much time has passed since God promised him a son. God visits Sarah and tells her that she will be pregnant with a baby boy. She laughed because she was already very old. God promises Sarah that next time he visits she will have a son. -
Covenant of Circumcision.
Agreement that Abram made with God that all men and boys who lived under the roof with Abram must be circumcised. All boys born must be circumcised by the age of eight. Any male that was found uncircumcised would break the covenant. -
God Destroys Sodem.
God agreed to Abram to spare the lives of the people in Sodem because Lot and his wife lived there. When God arrived and saw the sin in Sodem he sent angels to remove Lot and his wife from Sodem and told them not to look back. Lots wife did not listen to Gods word and she looked back and was turned into stone. God destroyed Sodem. -
Ishmael born (son) of Abraham
When the angel talked to Hagar about the son the angel told Hagar to name the boy Ishmael meaning “God Hears”. The angel gave an explanation of Ishmael “This son of yours will be a wild man, as untamed as a wild donkey! He will raise his fist against everyone, and everyone will be against him. Yes, he will live in open hostility against all his relatives.” -
Gods Covenant with Abraham
When God first met with Abraham he was upset that he did not have a son or people that believed in him. God made a deal with Abraham as we refer it to as the Covenant. The deal meant that Abraham had to follow all of Gods instructions, and God would give him a son and make him a nation. If any of Gods rules were broken under the covenant everything would be taken away. -
Abraham marries Hager + She becomes pregnant
Since Sarai was unable to have children. Sarai told Abraham about her slave in Egypt named Hagar. Sarai told Abraham to take her as his wife. Hagar and Abram were married and were expecting a baby.
