    Thomas Kuhn was born to Minette Scroock Kuhn and Samuel L. Kuhn in Cincinnati, Ohio. His family then moved to New York where he would spend his childhood.
  • Education

    Kuhn attended the prestigious Harvard University
    In 1943 Kuhn earned his bachelor’s degree.
    In 1946 he received his master’s degrees in physics.
    In 1949 he obtained his Ph.D. in the history of science.

    In 1962 Kuhn published Kuhn, Thomas S. The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. The University of Chicago Press, 1962.
    This is where he introduces his theory of science which involves changes of how scientists see the world or revolutions. Kuhn’s describes these changes into phases or better known as “paradigm shifts.” His phases were pre-paradigm, normal science, crisis, and scientific revolution.

    Kuhn's Contributions
    Thomas Kuhn is one of the most influential philosophers of science, he actually influenced how scientists worked and thought. His contribution to the philosophy science was not only a break with several important positivist doctrines but also inaugurated a new style of philosophy of science that brought it much closer to the history of science.
