Thomas Kuhn

  • Birth

    Thomas Samuel Kuhn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 18, 1922. He was an American Historian and a Philosopher of Science during his time. He claimed scientific knowledge underwent change and periodical "'paradigm shifts" throughout history and science is not linear, which open new advancements in science.
  • Education

    Thomas Kuhn's education after high school was attended at Harvard University for all of his degrees. He first attained a bachelor's degree in 1943, and his master's degree in 1946, and his Ph. D in 1949. All of his study was Physics.
  • Teaching

    Thomas Kuhn taught History of Science at Harvard for eight years from 1948 to 1956. Afterwards, he taught at the University of California at Berkeley in the subjects of History of Science and Philosophy. He also taught at Princeton University as a Professor of Philosophy and History of Science and lastly, He taught as a Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until 1991 in the philosophy department.

    The Structure of Scientific Revolutions was Thomas Kuhn's book he had written on the history of science and his most notable. While he wrote his book, he had challenged science with scientific research utilized by paradigms of other theories and scientific methods and experiments.     While the Struture of Scientific Revolutions was one of the most utilized books in the social sciences, Kuhn continued to work and teach. He also worked on essays and other writings throughout his career. He is most notable for the paradigm in science and displayed his knowledge throughout his career and changed normal science and approach to theory.
