Sewell went to the courthouse on this day to investigate the recent events of the town. The afflicted persons were examined at this time. He found it awful that the afflicted persons were very agitated. -
Executution Day in Salem
Sewell notes that six important people in the town of Salem were executed. It turned out to be a spectator's event because of the audience that gathered to watch. It made people who were on the fence choose a side. -
The Pressing Death
At about noon in Salem, Sewell notes that Giles Cory was pressed to death by stones. Cory was killed for not speaking on the issue. Sewell felt that Cory's torture and the means on the superiors was all in vain. -
The Bill
Sewell states that he sends in a bill about calling a fast, and convocation of ministers, that be led in the right way as to witchcrafts. The people wanted to clean themselves. These appear to be religious acts. -
Copy of the Bill is Passed Around
Sewell makes a copy of the bill he wrote. He gives this bill to Mr. Willard. This alarms Willard. He stands up while reading it and bowed when he finished.
