Main Problem
The narrator has a disease called catalapsy and is worried about getting buried alive. -
Rising Action #1
He talks about different people that have the same disease that were burried alive and did not survive. One story talks about how a woman was buried in her family vault. Three years later her husband goes to check on her. When her skeleton falls on him. The coffin is shattered because she used a piece of the tomb to try and get out. -
Rising Action #2
Since the narrator has a disease he is worried he will get buried alive. So he stays inside of his house and knows that he would get burried in the family vault. He decides to prepare the vault with a bell so he can ring it if he is buried alive. Also, he makes the coffin confortable and easy to open it from the inside. -
Rising Action #3
The narrator starts to feel one of the episoeds comming and tries to stop it. Eventually, he falls into a dream and hears a man yelling "Arise!" and feels a cold hand grasp him. He cannot see the man but can hear his voice. Then man then takes him to see a grave yard and walkes up all of the corpses. The narrator then walkes up from the dream terrified. -
Rising Action #4
He goes on a hunting trip with his friend. It starts to rain and the narrator passes out. His frind finds shelter in a cave and puts him in a coffin so he wont get wet. -
Climax
The narrator all of a sudden wakes up in a coffin with something wraped around his mouth. He smells an earthy smell that leads him to think that soemone found him in an "episode" and burried him. He then struggles ot get out of the coffin and finally gets out. -
Falling Action
He wakes up and his friend tells him that its okay. Then he relizes that he is fine and his friend was just trying to help him not scare him. -
Resolution
The narrator realizes that he shouldn't be afraid of being buried alive. Once he finds that he shouldnt be afraid of death the disease goes away.
