    Niels Bohr attended the University of Copenhagen. He then took on a problem for a prize. The Academy of Sciences put out a problem for students to complete. He had to investigate how to measure surface tension of liquids. He used his father's lab to investigate and won the prize.

    From 1908-1922 Niels Bohr investigates many scientific subjects. Through the years he held many lectureships and professorships. He taught in England and Denmark. The time for the Nobel Prize came around and Niels Bohr wins it. He won it for his inquiry into the structure of the atom and the radiation it emits.

    Creating a Monster
    The Nazi party of Germany began to rise and invade parts of Europe. Niels Bohr is Jewish and so like many other scientists he fled. First to Sweden and he would end up in either England or America. He was brought in to work on the Manhattan Project. A huge team of scientists brought together to create the first atomic bomb. Niels Bohr released a thesis that the uranium 235 is responsible for fission.
  • Atoms for Peace

    Atoms for Peace
    One of the last major accomplishments was the Atoms for Peace Conference that was held in Geneva, Switzerland. He took strong favorable views toward nuclear arms disarmament. He hosted the conference which involved 1,200 representatives from many other nations. This would start a momentum that is ongoing today.
