Elvis was born January 8, 1935 in East Tupleo Mississippi. His parents were Vernon and Gladys Presley. They were poor, but they gave Elvis everything a boy needed. When Elvis was born, it was said that his mother would have twins, but only Elvis survived of the two. Gladys then proceded to hold Elvis's hand until he was in 6th grade. -

The Family Moves to Memphis, Tennessee
The Presleys moved to Memphis to find a new job and to make a fresh start. Elvis would be attending Humes High school. As a student, Elvis was not very popular in high school. The other kids did not like his unusual style or the guitar he carried around his back every day of school. He graduated in 1953. -
Elvis Joins His First Recording Studio
Elvis joined Sun Recording Company where he first learned the process of making a record. He walked in one day and the people thought his singing was unlike any other's. They experimented with random songs for hours and they finally began recording. Elvis would later leave this company for RCA Records in order to distribute his music nationaly. -
Elvis Releases His First Record
Elvis's first record was a Sun label aingle with "That's All Right" backed by "Blue Moon of Kentucky." The single brough Elvis national attention. -
Elvis's Management Contract
Elvis's first and lifelong manager was Colonel Thomas A. Parker. He was all about making money. He painted finches yellow to sell as canaries and he saved money by selling foot long hot dogs that had no meat in the middle. He was outgoing, agressive, slick, and fearless. He helped Elvis play his music all over the country. -
Releases First Album
Elvis's very first album is "Elvis Presley", released by RCA Victor records, March 23, 1956 It went platinum and it was first in the Billboard Pop Album Chart and the UK Albums Chart. -

Elvis's first gold record was "Heartbreak Hotel" which was the first of his five gold records. -
Elvis Buys Graceland
Elvis wanted his family to move to a bigger house with more privacy. With his new fortune he buys a big house with thirteen plus acres. The famous gates have musical notes and him playing guitar. He filled the house with luxurious furniture and he wanted his parents to enjor themselves. Sadley, Gladys wasn't used to owning a big empty house and she was becoming more and more hesitant about Elvis's new lifestyle. -
Drafted into the Army
At one time in his life, Elvis was drafted into the Army. He accepted because he said he loved his country and he didn't want to look scared by paying his way out of being drafted. -
Gladys Presley Dies
Gladdys Presley dies of a heart attack brought on by acute hepatitis. This was a huge thing for Elvis and his father. Elvis was very close to his mom and he couldn't cope with the sadness. He then turned to drugs to lessen the depression. -
Elvis Meets Priscilla Beaulieu
While overseas in the army, he met 14 year old Priscilla Beaulieu in Germany. She was a big fan of Elvis and she couldn't believe he was actually there. She was inviting and Elvis said she was the only person he had actually shared his true feelings with for a long time. He was also affraid what the media would say when they knew he was dating a 9th grader. When he returned to the United States, he kept in touch with Priscilla and later invited her to live with him in Graceland. -

Elvis was finally finished serving his country. -

Elvis and Priscilla had their first child Lisa. It was said that when she was a young girl in school, she would threaten other kids by saying she would tell her daddy on them. -

Elvis has now accumulataed 5 Golden Records. He will then lead to selling 147 billion copies of his music, the most records ever sold. -
Divorces Pricilla Presley
Elvis was definitely changing as a person. He was taking so many pain killers that he would go on random outbursts of anger. He could do anything he wanted because he had so much money. Pricilla states, "The love that I had for him was truly love for him. I didn't leave him because i hated him; I left because i loved him. I wasn't about to see him go, in front of me. He had to help himself. He didn't choose to do that." -
Elvis Presley Dies
He died at 42 years old. It was said that he died of a form of heart attack in the bathroom of his suite. In his 42 years of life he has changed the music industry forever and was crowned "King of Rock and Roll"
