Collision at sea
Ten days after leaving Callao, the ship Prendick was on, the Lady Vain, was hit by a derelict and sunk, all lives were presumed lost at sea. Prendick, Helmar and an unnamed sailor survives and are set adrift on a lifeboat. They eventually ran out of water 4 days later. On the sixth day Helmar suggest that they draw lots to see who will stay on the boat to increase their odds of surviving. Prendick refuses at first, but he later changes his mind when he sees Helmar and the unnamed sailor talking. -
Rescued
Rescued by the ship Ipecacuanha and nursed back to health by Montgomery. See's Montgomery assistant and notices that he is different. Talks to Montgomery and finds out he is from London and is banned from going back, but he doesn’t explain why. Meets Captain Davis who is in charge of the ship Ipecacuanha, who is a drunk. Montgomery and Capt. Davis gets in heated argument, the Capt. is mad because of the condition of his ship. Montgomery mad due to the hazing of his assistant who is "different". -
Meets Dr. Moreau
Prendick is forced off the ship. Montgomery says he can’t go with him, and the Cap places him in a rowboat. By luck he drifts to the island where Montgomery is, Montgomery introduces him to Dr. Moreau, his name sounds familiar but he can’t place it. He remembers the Moreau Hollows incident. Moreau treats him with suspicion.Prendick later goes walking and sees more strange creatures and is chased by one.On his returned to the house he hears the cry of what he thinks is a man behind a lock door. -
Sayr of the Law
Prendick thinks they will experiment on him runs from Moreau. He is found by one of the creations of Dr. Moreau, and taken back to their lair. He meets the Sayer of the Law who thinks Prendick is one of them. He goes over the Laws that Moreau has established. Moreau shows up and Prendick runs away and later agrees to talk to Moreau where Moreau explains he is not doing experiments on humans. -
Death of the Leopard-Man
Montgomery and Prendick finds a half eaten rabbit during their walk, and tells Dr. Moreau who is very concerned because one of the Beast Folks has broken one of the Laws. They soon realize it was the Leopard-man, the same one who chased Prendick on his first day. They chase the Leopard-man and Prendick kills it so Moreau cannot take it back to experiment on it futher. -
A Catastrophe
Early in the morning the puma that Dr. Moreau had been working on escapes from the laboratory. Prendick receives a broken arm in the process. Moreau immediately gives chase of the puma. Montgomery and Prendick leave later and are attacked by 2 Beast People which they kill. They finally find Moreau dead body and take it back to the camp. They burn all the experiments that are left in the laboratory. -
Montgomerys End
After destroying all the lab equipment Montgomery gets drunk and makes the careless decision of giving some of the Beast Folks alcohol also. Montgomery is on the beach getting drunk and Prendick is in one of the buildings. Prendick hears gunfire and runs to the beach and finds Montgomery mortally wounded and his assist dead. The compound has burned to the ground. Prendick convinces the Beast Folks that the Law must still be obeyed and Montgomery and Moreau are not dead, to ensure his survival. -
Reversion of the Beast Folk
Since the time of Moreau’s death, Prendick has been befriended by a Dog man and a sloth. He has been on the lookout for a Hyena swine man who he is trying to kill. Gradually notice the reversion of the Beast folk to their natural state as Morea had said earlier. -
Lets build a raft/ Hyena-swine
As the reversion of the Beast Folk continues Prendick tries to build a raft and escape the island due to the creatures going back to their natural state. The raft tears apart on the way to the beach. Later the sloth thing he befriended earlier gets him to follow it. After following the sloth, he finds his nemesis, the Hyena-swine, over the body of his once complain the dog man who is dead. He kills the hyena-swine. -
Salvation
Since the death of the hyena-swine Prendick has been sleeping in the day so he can be on guard during the night from the Beast-folk. He’s thought about trying to kill them all so he will be safe. One day he sees a small boat with three men in it. He waves but they don’t respond. The waves carry the boat to shore and he finds 3 dead bodies in it. He gets the dead bodies out and the Wolf hybrids eat the bones. He hides that night. -
Leaving the Island
In the morning he kills 2 rabbits and gathers fruits and water. He leaves the boat moored to an inward projection of the reef, for fear of the Beast People. In the evening he departs the island taking his chances out to sea. -
Rescued
Three days after leaving the island Prendick is rescued once again by a passing ship. He tells his story to the Captain of the ship and the 1st Mate, and they do not believe him and thinks he has gone mad. He reframes from telling his story more because he doesn’t want people to think he is insane. He tries living in London again but doesn’t like being around people so he moves to the countryside and studies astronomy and chemistry.
