Constantine's Conversion
He converted to Christianity in 312 after he triumphed in a battle against his brother in law. According to the stories told by him, he had a dream in which he saw the sign of the cross (a chi-rho) in the sky, with the words "In hoc signo vinces", "by this sign conquer." The next day he added this sign to the standards of his army, and won the battle. He entered Rome and became unchallenged as western Emperor. -
