The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Timeline

  • The discovery of the dead dog, Wellington.

    On page 1, our main character, Christopher Boone, finds a dead dog named Wellington in his neighbor, Ms. Shear's, yard and decides to investigate what/who had killed the dog as he loves dogs very much. Ms. Shear confronts Christopher thinking that he killed the dog and calls the police. The police arrive and scare Christopher by yelling and touching him and he accidentally hits one of the officers and is arrested but later released.
  • Christopher's detective work

    After being talked to by the police and his father, Christopher decides that he is going to find out who killed Wellington by investigating and finding clues attached to the murder of the dog. He is caught snooping in Ms. Shear's garden shed and Ms. Shears tells him to leave with a threat of police being contacted again. He leaves and goes and asks the neighbors around her house if they had seen anything suspicious. He takes note of his findings in a book/journal.
  • Christopher finds an envelope from his mother who is presumed deceased.

    Christopher's book gets taken by his father because he does not want Chris to investigate the murder of Wellington and get into more trouble. Chris decides to go and find the book and does, but he also finds an envelope addressed to him from his presumed dead mother. He opens the envelope when his father is not around and finds out that his "mother" is still very much alive and lives in London with the latest letter being sent 18 months after he was told his mother was dead.
  • Christopher finds out who killed Wellington

    Christopher finds who killed Wellington because his father admits to having killed Wellington with the pitchfork after finding out that Chris knows about the envelopes from his mother. Christopher fears his father and the house he is in because his father killed the dog. Chris decides to go live with his mother in Londen by running away from his father and finds his mother and Mr. Shears together.
  • The aftermath of catching Wellington's murderer

    After leaving his father to go find his mom, Mr. Shears and Chris' mom get into an argument with each other and decide to cut ties with one another. His mother then takes him back to his father so that they could discuss the situation but get into an argument because Chris' mother did not know that his father was saying that she was dead instead of telling Christopher that she had simply left. They eventually make up with time and become a family again.
  • Christopher's future

    Christopher eventually takes his A-level maths paper/final and receives an A. His pet rat passes away but his father gets him a new dog to make up for the lost rat and build Christopher's trust back. Christopher now decides that he wants to go to university to study Mathematics and Physics and get a First Class honors Degree thinking that he is able to because he was able to solve the mystery of who killed Wellington, he found his mother and wrote the novel itself.
