The Cask of Amontillado

Montresor leads Fortunato into the wine cellar.

Montresor hatched a plot to get revenge on a wine connoisseur named Fortunato. He is getting revenge becuase he was insulted by him. During an anual carnival Montresor gets alone with Fortunato. He believes he find a pipe of the wine Amontillado and asks Fortunato if he is right. Fortunato is curious and goes down into the cellar with Montresor, not knowing that karma is coming back to bite him in the butt.

Montresor and Fortunato are in the catacombs.

Montrseor is leading Fortunato through the catacombs to his doom. Fortunato has a small cold and so Montresor tells him to go back up to the carnival as if Montresor is having doubts about what he is doing. Fortunato tells him that he is fine and he keeps on going. They are making small talk and Montresor tells him that he is a mason and that his family motto means will permit no man to impugn its honor. Which means no one should disrepect him or his family.

Montresor has his revenge.

montresor leads fortunato where he is going to enact his plan of revenge. He makes fortunato go into this crack in the wall where he chains him up. As the intoxicated Fortunato whining he is being walled up by Montresor. Montrsor is a skilled mason so he knows his stuff. After Montresor is done he listens to Fortunato crying and screaming for help. After he hears a thud he leaves with mixed feelings about his deed.
