Brent goes home
Knowing that he might be held accoutable for his actions, he decided he would rather commit suicide then face the embarresment that comes with dissapointing his parents. So, he goes home. He tells his brother Craig the whole story ( besides wanting to kill himsel), so now brent doesn't have to write a note. -
Brent sets himself on fire
As metioned in the book, Brent has attempted many times to kill himself. He wanted this to work. To begin, Brent removes all his clothes and then puts on a new pair of boxers.Next, he brings his bathrobe to the shower that he is standing in. He then doused his robe with gasoline. He struck a match at the wrist of the robe and he is immeaditely englufed in flames. -
Brent recieves medical attention
While calling for his brothers help,Brent realizes that this was too painful and he needed to stop it . He turns on the shower and has smothered the fire. Brent then goes into his hallway and craig calls 911. The paramedics then take Brent to Children's National Medical Center.He suffered from third-degree-burns on 85% of his body. -
Brent goes to school
Brent going to school plays a tremendous part of his last ( noted) suicide attempt. About a week ago when he was in gym in the locker room he thought it would be cool to light a shirt on fire. Once it was lit, Brent panicked and threw the burning shirt into a locker and locked it.However this day it was discovered. School authorties said who ever was guilty would have consequences. -

Brent is now in the Intensive Care Unit at Children's National Medical Center. -
Brent recieves gifts
Brent's loved ones begin to send him cards,letters,pictures and etc. Not many people know this was a suicide attempt. They believe it was a accident..Some of his close friends from school called him and/or sent sound tapes to him. A friend occasionally visted. -
Brent begins surgery
Brent begins a surgery that might be considered as skin grafting. Skin grafting is a surgical procedure by which skin or an skin substitute is placed over a burn to permanently replace damaged or missing skin or provide a temporary wound covering.They shave his head and use some skin from his scalp for the skin grafts. -
Progress
Brent is moved out of ICU and put into the burn unit because he has shown improvement. Brent is very confortable because he has the same doctors. -
Brent prepares to leave
Brent has a going away party with the nurses and doctors. He is leaving the hospital and going to a rehab facility. He has slightly recovered, however is still scarred mentally and physically. -
Alfred l. duPont Institute
Brent is moved to a rehab facility called Alred I. duPont Institute.This is in delaware, therfore his family only visits on weekends.The doctors here are very rude to Brent. They yel at him every time he does something even slightly incorrect. -
Brent is moved
Brent is moved to a different rehab facility due to his depression. -
Back to highschool
Brent has to go back to high school. He is very nervous and does not want to go back. He is especially embaressed because he has to ride the special education bus.However, he is happy is physically healed.
