    Paul was on his way to Florida from Texas. Before he left, his imagination of a zombie following him representing that he was part of the family and that problems follow you no matter where you go.

    Paul wakes up that morning to find his mom watching television. Erik and his dad left to go look at a football stadium. Paul takes a step outside and notices the air is hot, damp, and has the smell of smoke. He tells his mom and she calls the Fire Department. Later... they find out it was the muck that is on fire and they meet the Costellos. Mr. Costello has a son, Mike, who plays football himself and they admire Erik.

    As Paul and his mom go to visit the new school Paul will be attending, his mom asks to see a tour of the school because Paul has trouble seeing and refers to 'Legally Blind'. Paul becomes angry at her because Paul thinks he can see perfectly and thinks his mom is trying to be nosy. What they see from the tour is not what they expected.

    Erik didn't need to go to the tryouts but he still went. Coach Warner has seen what he can do and has been chosen to take Antoine's position. Coach Warner has said if he can make five or six points he can save Antoine. His Dad assures Coach Warner that that will not happen because his point average in Houston was nine per game and once scored 14 points in one game when he made the forty-seven-yard field goal. Paul Remembers when Erik used to play Soccer. That's why he kicks good in Football.

    Paul starts his day off by walking to the bus stop. As he walks he has a flashback of when he was in kindergarten with Erik. They were waiting for the bus and Erik told all his fifth-grade friends that Paul couldn't see and they called him ¨Eclipse Boy¨. At the time he didn't realize what that meant but know he does. He arrived the school and went to his homeroom. He was mad because there was a note about help in the office. A girl was called to help Paul and give a tour. She was Kerri Gardner.

    As this day comes, Erik meets Arthur Bauer. Arthur becomes part of the Erik Fisher Football Dream. He is hoping to take Mike's spot. Arthur has a sister named Paige who is a sophomore and is clearly going to become Erik's girlfriend. Arthur has a girlfriend named Tina Turreton. The girls hangout and the guys hangout. Tina and Paige want to date football players, and Erik and Arthur want Cheerleaders. Arthur will do anything to stay in the Erik Fisher Football Dream.

    A new friendship is born when Paul tells his mom about soccer tryouts. She suggests to him that he should invite Joey for a run at six-thirty. They run and talk and Paul seems to find their friendship odd and enjoyable since Paul is not used to someone being nice to him other than his family members. Paul is going to like his new friendship with Joey and maybe he thinks this is his shot to actually "being someone."

    A regular end of the day for Paul would be drowsy, but today Paul felt excited. Paul felt excited because at the end of the day they would hold the soccer tryouts. On the way out he ran into Joey and they talked about some of the players. Specifically Gino Deluca. Joey said he will be captain this year. Gino was blasting shots and Coach told them to warm up. Paul got his gear and went to the post and blocked one of Gino's shots. He was amazed and Paul thought he just landed the spot.

    As Paul comes back from the supermarket with his mom, Erik and Arthur come home in Arthur's Land Cruiser, and tell his mom Mike is dead. Erik says Mike was at the end zone leaning on the goalpost and kaboom, a crack and a flash and Mike was in the air and fell on his back. Arthur said they tried jump startin' him. Jack was freaking out and was trying to get his shoes. A little while later Paul heard the two laughing about Mike. Then Paul realized it, they both benefit from Mike's death.
  • Sad Memories

    Sad Memories
    On this sad day after the incident, there is a lot of tension and thoughts going around. Paul's mom and dad are at each other's throats talking about what happened and Paul's mom is trying to stop practice in the afternoons. Soccer practice wasn't practice for Paul, they had a scrimmage and it was just a bunch of toe stubbers. Paul says there is only some true players. As the game progresses, Paul thinks about Joey and how he would feel if he was in his position.

    This day starts with Paul's mom calling every football player's parents and telling them about her idea. Paul's dad told his mom that he talked to Mr. Bridges and they arranged a meeting. Immediately mom called everyone back who was interested. The guests arrived by 8. Coach Warner and Paul's mom started an argument wether they should cancel the football practices when there is a thunderstorm. Mr. Donnelly is willing to take his child and who ever else's child to practice at four in the morning.

    Paul starts the day at practice when Gino tells Paul that Coach Walski wants to talk to him. Coach Walski tells Paul he can´t play because they can´t waste insurance on people that have an IEP. Paul is upset and tells his mom. Paul blames his mom for filling out the IEP. She says she can talk to Mr. Murrow to clear things up. Later.. they go to the funeral of Mike and Paul sees Joey. Joey tells Paul his dad can file a lawsuit for him because he is a lawyer and that is against his civil rights.

    Joey offers to take Paul to the Carnival after the funeral.They arrive and see kids from Tangerine Middle School and who try to take Paul and Joey's tickets. Then meet Cara Cliston, Kerri Gardner and Adam. Paul to notices that Cara and Joey hold each other. They wanted to see the Freak Show, and after the show they were disappointed. Paul was fascinated by the show and the others left Paul as he looked at Exhibits of people. Paul went out and saw Joey and Cara on the ferris wheel together.

    The day begins with Paul at school while it is raining and everyone who was at the carnival was called to the office. The carnival people told the school that soccer players stole something from the Freak Show exhibit. Paul tells them it was the kids from Tangerine Middle and were released. Paul sees there is a big hole in the ground and taking portables. Everyone gets out and Paul thinks it's an earthquake but it's a sinkhole. Later... Paul's grandparents call telling them they're on the news.
  • The Relocation

    The emergency that happened has caused them to relocate and Paul thought it was crazy that the sixth graders would be returning on Thursday because a team of engineers said the main building is "structurally safe." The engineers condemned everything within a hundred-yard radius which meant that some of the football bleachers were taken away and a corner of the soccer field was too. It was okay for the soccer players because there was a spot to relocate but not so great for football.

    Apparently, the ten-year, multi-million-dollar building boom in Tangerine County, Old Charley's department never denied one request for a permit. They never sent out one inspector, either. He even has his own skybox at Daytona and is an honored guest at Talladega, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. By the time their report was finished it was too late and Charley was done for. Paul thought of how he lived like that with his salary of a civil servant. But now Charley is gone from Paul's dad too.

    They start by going to the meeting the school planned. The school made adjustments and said the eighth graders are going to be with high school and the seventh graders will be part of middle school sixth grade. Mrs. Gates knew this wouldn't be possible for some families so she had another idea. They could go with Dr. Grace Johnson to Tangerine Middle. Paul said the heavens opened to him and said he wanted to go to Tangerine Middle without and IEP so he could be a goalie like he was meant to be.

    Paul enters the school and his mom notices that there were people in front of the school karate kicking each other. Paul entered the office and Theresa Cruz was assigned to him as a guide for the first day. Paul asked Theresa about the soccer team and said she has a brother who plays on the team. Mrs. Murrow is a teacher there and doesn't want her to bring up the IEP. His mom had to take paperwork and took out the IEP. Paul thought it could be the beginning of the Paul Fisher Soccer Dream.

    Paul is with Theresa at lunch when Tino and Victor go up and sit with them. Victor was intimidating Paul and saying that the Lake Windsor Middle School soccer team sucks. Tino also said they were put in Vandalism Jail. They were put there because of their incident at the carnival. Tino karate kicked one of the exhibits and were charged for vandalism. They go to the field later and start a scrimmage. There, Paul met more people on the soccer team, even the girls.

    Paul invited Joey over to compare jerseys. Paul could hear Erik and Arthur mud running up and down the street. Erik and Arthur enter the house and they remind Joey of the Mohawk Man. At first Joey didn't understand but after Paul explained Joey began to cry. They reminded him of the shoe incident and mocked Mike's death. Joey explained why he cared of the shoes. He did it because he thought it might help Mike since he loved taking off his shoes. But Joey knew he had to be tough like Mike.

    Their first game they have is not what Paul expected. The game was very dirty and they played against Palmetto Middle School. The players were elbowing and Paul thought it was completely bizarre how everyone acted like this was normal. They scored a goal first when Tino got hurt and Paul substituted. Paul missed a shot. Victor was angry but they won for working as a team. Later... Joey called Paul and told him he would be going to his school on Monday. He did exactly what Paul told him to do.

    Erik is with his dad at a game which is the first of the season. Erik kicks once but the rest of the game he never kicks. Antoine is placekicker for the game instead of Arthur. The play against Cypress Bay High Cardinals. They score a touchdown and they got a extra point. Paul says he has never missed one. As Erik goes to kick it, Antoine swipes it away and Erik flops on the floor while Antoine makes the two point conversion. Later they watch television and Erik is on a channel.

    Paul has a second game against Kinnow Middle School. This school was way better at playing the game then the last team. at halftime the score was 3-3 without any fights. Victor's cut opened up and had to get stitches which meant Paul would be going in. Paul scored a goal and they won 7 to 3. Later... Paul's grandmother called and talked to mom and then after Cara called. She asked Paul about his thoughts on Kerri Gardner. Paul called Joey and Joey told Paul that they were scamming him.

    Paul and Joey had practice and Gino still couldn't play because of his stitches. Gino was giving Joey a hard time and calling him names. One of which was Charlie the Tuna. Joey was irritated and Paul tried to call him down and tell him he was joking. A few minutes later his mom picked them up and drove Joey to his house. They noticed that all the houses on Joey's block were getting fumigated. Paul's mom suggested that Joey could stay with them but, Joey thought no, and Paul knew why.

    Joey was not at practice but a white van pulled up in the middle of practice. It was Mr. Donnelly and a man with blonde long hair. Paul knew this was the cause of his mom. Mr. Donnelly told Paul's coach that he wanted to know the names of the girls on her team. Coach wanted to know what the big deal was because she has always had girls on her team. Mr. Donnelly said that they could make the All-County team for boys. Coach gave Maya's name but not Shandra's because she doesn't want publicity.

    Paul starts the day and is given a cross-curricular project. Tino is in a group with Theresa and asked Henry D. to be in his group. Paul asked to be in his group along with Joey. Joey does't want to be in that group and he thinks Tino is bad news. Joey tells Paul that he doesn't want to play soccer and that he has already turned in his uniform and is planning to play football in high school. Paul realizes that him and Joey are nothing alike. Joey doesn't know why he let Paul drag him into this.

    Paul uses his computer for his entries and his dad's for homework and projects because it can find anything. His mom was arranging a meeting for homeowners and were gonna discuss problems. They talked about the koi in the pond and how they were all gone. They talked about the termites and break-ins and what to do about that. They also talked about how to stop the muck fires and how it didn't even help and it just created mosquitos. Paul saw a file that said, "Erik-Scholarship Offers".

    Paul remembered what happened the first day he came to Tangerine Middle. He didn't ask for Theresa and called her a dog and said he didn't need her. Paul didn't like the attitude Joey had and told him. For their project they were doing it on their brother Luis's development on a new variety on tangerines. Joey was and and told Tino that he didn't want to be in their group and that maybe Tino was the problem. Tino rushed Joey but he quickly moved away and got mad at Paul. He said Paul is weak.

    Joey transferred back to Lake Windsor Middle School. Paul thought it was where he belonged. They were going to Luis's nursery for citrus trees. Paul got a ride with Henry D. and his brother Wayne, the fireman. Luis was making "Frankenstein trees" which were trees with other citrus linked into one tree. As Paul was going home with Henry and Wayne, Wayne had a motor with a fan and a spray nozzle to kill the mosquitoes. Paul the remebered when they discovered he lost his peripheral vision.

    Everyone in Paul's family were getting busy as the time went on and by this time, they weren't even eating meals together. Paul's dad is now in command as the Director of Civil Engineering. While Old Charley Burns died of a heart attack by bad publicity. Paul's mom is now head of the Architectural Committee. And Erik went from a joke to a local hero placekicker. He has scored a recent 40 and 45 yards to beat Flagler 6-0. As for Paul, his team has one seven games and he has played in all of them.

    Paul thought Luis was serious when he said that Paul could go visit the nursery anytime, so he went. Luis told Paul after the many hours of working that he didn't have to work anymore. Tino gave Paul a first-aid spray, that surprised Paul because he was being nice. Tino told Paul how Luis always loved citrus and how he always wanted to work when he was younger how he messed up his knee. He played goalie in soccer and was considered handicapped. Paul cleared the air about the carnival incident.

    The day begins with Mr. Donnelly inviting Paul's family over for a chat with some other people and a chance to meet Erik. Paul's dad want everyone to hear about Erik. Larry and Frank are new people who are being added to the Erik Fisher Football Dream. Paul looks at the Donnelly's trophies and Mr. Donnelly introduces himself. He asks Paul about his soccer and about Betty Bright, the coach for the War Eagles. Mr. Donnelly brings up her past as a hurdler and how great she was. Paul had a memory.

    Paul and his team had their last home game against Manatee Middle and they haven't won one game. Paul started the game left wing because Nita had the flu. Paul played good and made a goal with his head which motivated his team. The coaches met and talked, they said they were going to pause the game because it was going to start to rain. It's how they play the rules. If the rain continued, the match would go in the book as 'No Game.' They have a game on Friday against Lake Windsor Middle School.

    They were going to put Maya and Cesar on the front cover and called Paul over. Paul thought they should put Victor in so they put in all four. Maya had 22 goals, and Gino and Victor were tied with 18 goals each for second. The whole Tangerine Middle School had 52 goals total. Paul remembered of Betty and her fame and thought about Shandra and her fame. Paul wondered if Betty actually wanted the publicity or not.

    Paul's team has their last game today against the other undefeated team, Lake Windsor Middle School. They start and Shandra throws up and gets sent home with Victor getting hurt. Paul and Cesar sub for them. Gino made two shots with the second at the end of half time. The score was 2-1. Coach Walski tells Betty that Paul can't play and she brings up Antoine Thomas. Victor was back in and made a second goal, 2-2. There was a penalty and Gino took it and tricked Paul, but he missed and they won.

    Paul’s science group went to Paul’s house to finish some work. They finished a bit early so they played soccer out in the front yard. Erik and Arthur came home and said stuff to them. Tino was mad at Erik and said some stuff to him and called him Funny Guy. Tino stood up to Erik. Erik got mad and Arthur was going to pull something out of his gym bag. Erik stopped him and smacked Tino in the face. Paul didn’t know what to do and then he saw something in the house. Could it be Paul’s dad?

    Paul wanted to tell his dad about Erik or even ask if he saw what had happened. Paul wanted to tell his mom too but he didn’t know what she would do about Erik. His mom had a meeting with Erik’s guidance counselor about his grades. Luis talked to Erik about Tino yesterday. Arthur wacked him with the thing in his bag and then they walked away. Paul watched all this happen under the bleachers and then left with his mom. Luis stood up to Erik and also stood up for Tino.

    Paul's grandma called telling them they are on CNN for their decreasing rate of temperature. His grandparents aren't fans of the Erik Fisher Football Dream. Paul went to school and realized many kids were absent. Henry D. said that any child could be excused from school if they were in the citrus or vegetable business. Paul wanted to help Luis. Paul helped freeze, burn, and cut many groves at night. Paul reminds Luis of what happened yesterday and Luis said his attitude will be gone by Monday.

    Paul wakes up from an 18 hour rest and takes a look at the newspaper. He sees stuff about the game yesterday and his dad is mad. He is mad because it says that Erik missed all extra points when he didn't even kick the ball. Paul is mad at his dad for not knowing anything about his season and everything about Erik's. Sarah called saying that there were people vandalizing houses. Paul has a brief memory and that was the first time his dad actually cared for Paul.

    Paul thinks about Luis and what he would do at specific times. If Luis misses his chance, he has another at Senior Awards Night. Kerri calls Paul and invites him to be his date to a party after Senior Awards Night at Joey's house. Paul looks at the file of Erik's scholarships and notices the page 2 schools is gone, trashed. His mom is having a homeowners meeting and talking about stuff around the neighborhood. Paul tells them their theory of the Koi fish is wrong, they were taken by the osprey.

    Paul finds out Luis died. He died working in the new grove and the police said he could have been hit on the head from a frozen branch and died because of a blood clot. Paul felt sorrow even though he barely knew him. Paul did research and found out he didn't die from a blood clot, but from an aneurysm, the weakening of a blood vessel. Paul felt he needed to say the truth, that it was Arthur Bauer, the killer of Luis ordered by Erik.

    Paul wakes up and doesn't go to school again. Theresa calls Paul and tells him not to go to Luis's funeral because Tino and Victor are saying a lot of things and are not happy. Paul realizes that Tino and Victor knew about Arthur and Luis. Paul goes to a pond and a 5-year-old kid goes up to Paul and tells him there's a gator in the pond and it ate a kid. Paul says his parents just told him that lie to be scared. Then Paul thought of his own, he scared the kid and told him more lies.

    Paul, at exactly 12:00 put on his blue suit from Mike's funeral and went into his backyard. He pulled the sod back and went on his knees and dug a hole. He thought of Luis and began to cry in the hole. He thought of the land and the burned trees they lived and plowed over. Paul didn't know why he started to cry or why he did what he did, but he knew it involved Luis.

    Senior Awards Night is today and Paul gets ready. They get there at 6:30 to prep for tonight. They're calling names and in the bleachers, Paul notices Tino and Victor on the sideline. They call Erik and Tino and Victor charge Erik and Arthur. Paul helps Tino get away and his dad gets mad. Paul escapes and runs home. He sees Erik and Arthur with their bats and Paul stands up to them. Erik gets mad and later talks to his parents and wants answers to his "vision problem."

    Paul was at his house and Joey called and told him Betty Bright’s yellow Mustang is in front of Mr. Donnelly’s house. Paul rode to the house and saw Shandra in the car and Antoine Thomas and Betty Bright talking to Mr. Donnelly. Paul talked to Shandra and she said she feels odd and so does Antoine about him living in Tangerine but playing for Lake Windsor. She said that was the reason they lost the game. Antoine Thomas was going to tell the Sheriff Department about the death of Luis and Arthur.

    Paul read an article this morning about Antoine Thomas and how he lives a lie at Tangerine and Lake Windsor Downs. Paul's dad and other football fathers are 'shocked' by what's happening. The article says he broke records in the book and even broke his own records. It also says he was an all-time favorite. But, do to rules they have to take that out. Later... Paul's mom has a meeting and reveals that Erik and Arthur are the ones robbing the houses.

    Paul was told to attend school at seven thirty with his mom. Paul packed up for a normal day. Paul got there and they first talked to Paul's mom. Paul saw Theresa and he gave her the report. Theresa started crying and wanted to know why did all what he had done. Paul was called in and was seated with Victor and Tino. Victor said Paul didn't belong there and just fell. Tino told Paul not to run his mouth like that. Paul was expelled from all Tangerine County schools for the rest of the year.

    Erik and his dad went to the police station to talk to Arthur. Arthur is trying to blame Erik for misunderstanding his words, but Erik says he is lying. Paul's dad tells him they want his statement of the night. Paul is supposed to be going to St. Anthony's for school until next year. Later... Paul started to write his paragraph with the basic facts, but there was a lot he had to write. He started by saying what Luis mattered to everyone and why they depended on him. He tried the same for Erik.

    Paul is getting ready for school and his parents decided that Paul's dad was taking him to school today. Paul is going and thinks about Mike and Luis. He sees Mike's tree and thinks about him. then he thinks of Luis and how many trees he has and many more he will have. Paul saw all the groves of Luis and opened the window. he smelt the nice, soothing citrus of the Golden Dawn.
